BOBCATS RETURN HOME
The Quinnipiac men's soccer team returns home for a meeting with the Holy Cross Crusaders on Wednesday, September 16. In search of their first win of 2015, the Bobcats will take on the Crusaders at 4 p.m. from the QU Soccer Field.
SCOUTING THE CRUSADERS
Holy Cross enters Wednesday's matchup at 1-2-2 overall on the year and 0-2-1 on the road. The Crusaders began the season with back-to-back ties including a 1-1 draw against No. 8 Providence. Holy Cross then fell to Dartmouth in the following game before securing their first victory of 2015, a 5-0 home win over Sacred Heart. In their most recent matchup, the Crusaders fell to Brown, 1-0 in Providence. Junior forward Joe DeVivo leads the squad with seven points off three goals and an assist.
ALL-TIME AGAINST HOLY CROSS
The Bobcats are searching for their first win against Holy Cross since a 2-1 victory in 2012. The Crusaders are 8-3-1 all-time against Quinnipiac including a win in each of the last two seasons. In 2014, Holy Cross took down the Bobcats in Worcester, 2-1. Senior Tanor Jobe collected his first career goal at Quinnipiac to cut the lead to one with a minute remaining.
LAST TIME OUT
Against Rhode Island last Saturday, the Bobcats held a 1-0 lead at halftime, but surrendered two second half goals and fell by a score of 2-1. Quinnipiac scored their first goal of the season in the 25th minute, but it was not enough to hold off the Rams.
DALLY'S TALLY
Freshman forward Rashawn Dally scored his first career goal in a 2-1 loss at Holy Cross on Sept. 12. Dally received the ball in open space and fired a strike through the keeper's legs for the score. The goal also marked the first of the season for Quinnipiac.
CAREER HIGH
Against Brown, Henry registered a career high 12 saves in the loss. The Bobcat goalkeeper stopped five shots in the first half before tallying seven more in the second frame. He now 22 saves on the year to go along with a .880 save percentage.
2014 HOME DOMINANCE
Last season, the Bobcats were nearly perfect at home, supporting a 6-1-3 record in Hamden. Quinnipiac lost their home opener to Boston College on September 4, but went on to finish the year unbeaten at the QU Soccer Field.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Bobcats return to action on Saturday, September 19 for a matchup with interstate rival, the Yale Bulldogs. Quinnipiac will travel to New Haven to take on the Bulldogs at Reese Stadium at 7 p.m. QU defeated Yale last season, 1-0, in a thrilling overtime victory.
HENRY DOMINATES HUSKIES
Former UConn Husky, Triston Henry, was dominant against his former team. The junior transfer recorded his first career shutout with a couple huge diving stops in the latter stages of the game. Henry finished with six saves on the day.
SHUTOUTS GALORE
The shutout against Connecticut was the first of the year for the Bobcats through two games. Last season, Quinnipiac tallied nine shutouts in 19 games.
UNBEATEN STREAK SNAPPED
Quinnipiac lost their first game in nearly one year against Boston College. The Bobcats finished the 2014 season with 13 straight games without a loss. QU's last defeat came at the hands of Holy Cross on September 17, 2014.
FRESH FACES
Three Bobcats made their first career starts for Quinnipiac in the season opener. Junior goalkeeper Triston Henry, freshman midfielder Oscar Evans, and freshman forward Rashawn Dally all made their debuts in the starting lineup.
FIRST GAME JITTERS
The Bobcats have now lost their season opener for the sixth consecutive year. The last time they did not fall in the first game came on September 5, 2009 in a 1-1 tie against Yale.

The Bobcats were selected second in the MAAC's preseason poll with Monmouth taking the top spot. In 2014, Quinnipiac went undefeated in the MAAC regular season earning the title of MAAC Regular Season Champions for the second year in a row. DA COSTA VICTORY IS HIGH FOR BOBCATS
Quinnipiac's Eric Da Costa heads into the 2015 season with back-to-back regular season conference championships under his belt. Da Costa was recognized last season as the 2014 MAAC Coach of the year after leading the Bobcats to a 7-0-3 conference record. Now entering his eleventh season at the helm, Da Costa has helped Quinnipiac rise to the top of the MAAC in just two seasons.
THREE'S COMPANY
The Bobcats return three All-MAAC selections from last season's team, senior Tobias Esche, junior James Doig, and sophomoreShaquille Huggins. Esche returns to anchor the Quinnipiac defense which ranked second in GAA (0.56), and goals allowed (6), while also ranking third in shutouts (5). Doig earned his second All-MAAC honor after making the All-MAAC team as a freshman. As a sophomore Doig led Quinnipiac in assists (6) while adding ten points and two goals. Huggins earned a spot on the All-MAAC Rookie Team after for his strong play and being a key player in the Quinnipiac midfield offensive attack.
PRESEASON ALL-MAAC
Quinnipiac had two student-athletes selected to the with preseason honors. Both Esche and Doig were tabbed to repeat on the All-MAAC Team.
BIG SHOES TO FILL
Quinnipiac has big shoes to fill in the net after the two-time MAAC Goalkeeper of the yearBorja Angoitia finished his illustrious career last season. Junior Triston Henry will look to fill the void as the new goalkeeper for the Bobcats. Henry has an impressive track record with back-to-back National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Championships in 2012 and 2013 including a 2013 campaign where he only allowed four goals. With 29 shutouts at Herkimer County Community College, Henry earned NSCAA and NJCAA All-American honors in 2013.
