WEEKLY AWARDS
- Peyton Vancas was named the MAAC Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, April 14th.
- Last week out, Vancas hit .500 in three contests, going 5-for-10 at the plate. Vancas drove in two runs and scored one in the three contests over the last week. Vancas is fourth on the team with a .289 batting average in just his first collegiate season.
LAST TIME OUT
- Quinnipiac is coming off a road series at Marist, dropping two out of three contests in Poughkeepsie, New York.
- The Bobcats dropped the first two games of the series, 7-5 and 9-2, before bouncing back on Sunday with a 6-2 victory.
- In the win on Sunday, Nick Balcom tossed 5.1 innings of one-run ball, while striking out nine.
- Quinnipiac is currently 5-1 on Sundays and winners of five straight on the final day of the weekend.
HISTORY VS. YALE
- Wednesday's matchup will mark the 21st time the Bobcats and Bulldogs will face off since March 11th, 2001.
- Yale leads the all-time series, 11-1.
- Quinnipiac took the previous meeting earlier this year, defeating the Bulldogs 15-9 in Hamden (March 18th, 2026).
- The Bulldogs took an early 9-1 lead after the first three innings of play before Quinnipiac exploded for 11 runs in the fifth inning to take control of the contest. The Bobcats added another three runs in the bottom half of the seventh inning to help seal the 15-9 victory.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
- The Yale Bulldogs enter the midweek contest with a 19-10 overall record and a 9-3 record out of the Ivy League.
- Yale currently has the highest batting average (.285) in the Ivy League and the most runs scored (224) this season. In conference play, the Bulldogs are hitting .282 in twelve contests, which ranks second in the league.
- The Bulldogs' pitching staff holds the league's fifth-lowest ERA (4.79) throughout their 12 Ivy League contests so far this season. Yale is 5th in the league, allowing 63 runs to score in their conference slate.
- Yale has won three of its four Ivy League series so far this season, defeating Penn, Princeton, and Harvard, and dropped their first Ivy League series of the season to Brown.
- Yale is coming off a home series win over the Harvard Crimson (April 11-12). The Bulldogs dropped the first game of the series by a final score of 5-3. Yale bounced back in game two of the doubleheader on Saturday, winning 9-6 to even the series. On Sunday, the Bulldogs sealed the series victory with a 5-2 win over the Crimson.
- Garrett Larson leads the Yale offense with a .404 batting average in 29 starts this season. Over the 29 games played, Larson has recorded 46 hits and has driven in 24 runs this season.
- On the pitching side, Tate Evans leads the club with a 2.17 ERA in 16 appearances this season. Evans has started three contests this year and has recorded 58 strikeouts in 49.2 innings pitched.

PRESEASON ACCOLADES
- The Quinnipiac Baseball team was picked to finish 3rd in the MAAC Preseason Poll after last season ended in the MAAC Semifinal round against the Rider Broncs.
- Christian Smith was named to the Preseason All-MAAC team as he returns to Hamden.
- Smith finished the year with a .329 batting average in 56 contests. Smith tied for the team lead in home runs with 15 and led the Bobcats with 67 runs batted in.
- Smith had a tremendous MAAC Tournament last season, finishing the week with a .375 clip (6-for-16), while driving in nine runs in the five games in Pomona, earning him a nod on the All-Tournament team.
KEY RETURNERS
- The Bobcats return 19 players from last year's team, with of those players seeing game action.
- Of those returners, nine are pitchers: J.C. Franconere, Sam Wright, Griffin Seibel, Mike Poncini, Matt Alduino, Nick Balcom, Andrew Rubayo, Josh Lajoie, and Mason Ulsh.
- Ten position players return: Cole Constable, Kyle Garbowski, Sam Ametrano, Christian Smith, Alex Irizarry, Luke Zeisloft, James Marino, Matt Park, Ian Nilsen, and Christian Nilsen.
LOTS OF NEW FACES
- Quinnipiac welcomes 16 new faces to its campus this season.
- The Bobcats used the transfer portal to bring in sophomore right-handed pitcher Maddex Labuda (Liberty), junior outfield/first baseman Jack Balcer (Widener), senior right-handed pitcher James Pazdera, and graduate outfielder Brendan Edvardsen (AIC).
- Quinnipiac also brought in 12 first years, with six being pitchers and six being position players, Peyton Vancas (Pleasant Gap, Pa.), Timothy Park (Bridgewater, NJ.), Chase Camac (Northfield, NJ.), Caden Williamson (Broomfield, Co.), Teagan Beames (New Fairfield, Conn.), Brayden Hromada (Center Moriches, NY.), Joseph Hiller (Center Moriches, NY.), Kevin Rusinak (Manalapan, NJ.), Ethan Freed (Limerick, Pa.), Frank Orrei (Verona, NJ.), Langdon Hazen (Underhill, VT.), and Jacob Belecky (Komoka, Ontario, Canada).
NEXT TIME OUT
- After playing down the road in New Haven, the Bobcats will head to Buffalo, New York, to take on the Canisius Golden Griffins in a three-game set starting on Friday, April 17th.
