QU Falls in 12 Innings to Yale

New Haven, Conn. – The Quinnipiac baseball team dropped a tight one to the Yale Bulldogs, 6-5, in 12 innings on Wednesday afternoon in New Haven. With the loss, the Bobcats fell to 14-20 on the season and split their season series with the Bulldogs, 1-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bobcats got on the board first in the contest as Caden Williamson came home on a wild pitch to kick the contest off. Later in the inning, Kyle Garbowski delivered with a single to center field to bring home James Marino with the second run of the inning.
Quinnipiac added another run in the second inning as Cole Constable came home as Caden Williamson reached on an error, making it 3-0 Bobcats.
After a scoreless third inning, Ian Nilsen gave QU a four-run lead as he launched a long home run over the left field wall in the fourth inning. Yale responded in their half of the fourth, scoring a pair on back-to-back RBI singles.
Yale got themselves within one in the fifth inning as a run came home on a double down the left field line.
Caden Williamson gave the Bobcats some insurance in the eighth as he singled home Constable to make it a 5-3 contest. The two-run lead wouldn't last long as Yale scored two in the bottom half of the eighth to even the game at five.
No runs were put on the board for the next three innings as the game went to the 12th inning. With a runner on second in the bottom half of the 12th, Colin Sloan delivered the game-winning hit to walk it off for the Bulldogs, 6-5.

NEWS AND NOTES
- Six different Bobcats recorded hits in the extra-inning loss to the Bulldogs. Three of the Bobcats recorded multiple hits in the effort.
- Christian Smith went 2-for-6 with two doubles in the loss. Smith leads the ballclub with 13 doubles on the year, which also ranks first in the MAAC.
- Since returning to the lineup on March 18th, Smith is hitting .321 with 15 RBIs and eleven doubles.
- Kyle Garbowski picked up multiple hits in the loss (2-for-3), the eleventh time he has recorded 2+ hits in a game this season.
- In the effort, Garbowski drove in his 20th RBI of the season, which is tied for third on the team.
- Garbowski currently ranks fourth on the team with a .285 batting average.
- Caden Williamson recorded two hits in the effort, raising his batting average to .319, which ranks second on the team.
- Ian Nilsen hit his first collegiate home run with his tape measure blast in the fourth inning.
- Quinnipiac walked ten times in the contest, while allowing seven walks to the Bulldogs.
- The Bobcats sent eight pitchers to the mound in the 12-inning affair. The eight arms combined for six strikeouts in the loss.
