
Balanced Scoring Attack Leads Men's Lacrosse to Road Win

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Four different Bobcats registered a multi-goal effort, leading Quinnipiac men's lacrosse past Merrimack by the final score of 13-9 on Wednesday afternoon from Duane Stadium.
Nate Watson led the offensive charge with three goals and an assist. Duncan Zielke, Johnny Karafa and Nick Meoni all scored twice in the victory.
Goalie Evan Miner made 14 saves, including nine during the second half of action.
Quinnipiac moves to 1-2 in MAAC play with the win.

GAME REWIND
Daniel Berzrutchenko scored the game's first goal to make it 1-0 Merrimack, then the Bobcats scored three straight to take the lead. Cole Marsala, Ethan McGerald and Johnny Karafa all found the back of the cage to help QU build up its early lead.
The Warriors would respond, scoring three consecutive times to take a 4-3 lead at the end of the first.
The Bobcats then scored five straight times to begind the second quarter, including a pair from first-year Bobcaty Duncan Zielke. Quinnipiac led 8-5 at the end of the first half.
Nick Meoni and Nate Watson each found the back of the cage for QU in the third frame, giving Quinnipiac a 10-5 edge through 45 minutes of action.
Merrimack outscored Quinnipiac 4-3 in the third quarter, but the Bobcats were able to hold on for the road win. Nate Watson and Jake Gallose both scored in the final five minutes to help clinch the victory.

The Bobcats return to Hamden on Saturday, March 28, playing host to Marist to continue the MAAC schedule.

- Nick Meoni's two-goal effort marks a season high. He has six goals for the year.
- Johnny Karafa is up to five goals for the season. He also had two goals in the season opener at UMass Lowell.
- First-year Bobcat Duncan Zielke scored the first two goals of his collegiate career in the win. He also chipped in with an assist for three points on the day.
- Cole Marsala, Jake Gallose, Luke Byman and Ethan McGerald all scored once, as well.
- Joe Konesco and Ryan Novack helped anchor things on the defensive end, as both caused a pair of turnovers in the contest.
- Total shots finished even 43-43 (also even 23-23 in shots on goal).
- QU went 26-of-28 in clear attempts.
- Merrimack won 16-of-25 faceoff battles.
- Quinnipiac is now 2-2 against Merrimack over the last four seasons.
