Bobcats' Associate Head Coach Earns Spot on Annual List for 4th Time
It marks the fourth time that Morris has been selected for the prestigious honor – which recognizes standout assistant coaches across the country. Morris also made the list in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Over 40 previous selections to the annual Silver Waves Media list have gone on to become head coaches in college basketball.
"Our entire Quinnipiac basketball family is excited for Shaun to be selected to this distinguished group of assistant coaches once again," said Head Coach Tom Pecora. "As our offensive coordinator, Shaun has played a key role in helping lead us to back-to-back regular season MAAC championships as well as two consecutive 20-win seasons. His positive impact on our program and his dedication to Quinnipiac over the years is unparalleled."
Morris has been on the Quinnipiac staff since the 2017-18 season, and has served as Associate Head Coach under Tom Pecora for each of the past three seasons.
"I am honored and excited to be a part of this prestigious group of coaches across the country," Morris said. "I'm grateful for the administrative support here at Quinnipiac, and thankful that I have the opportunity to work for Coach Pecora and alongside the rest of our high-level staff. Quinnipiac is a special place and I'm looking forward to continuing to help our program compete for championships."
Under Morris' guidance, the Bobcats have captured back-to-back MAAC regular season championships (2023-24 & 2024-25). Quinnipiac posted a 15-5 conference record during both seasons to earn the top seed in the postseason tournament.Morris has led the Bobcats 'offensive attack to record-breaking numbers during that span. In 2023-24, he pioneered a Quinnipiac offense that set a new program record for total points (2,630). The Bobcats finished the '23-24 season averaging 77.4 points per contest – which led all MAAC teams and finished 75th nationally.
QU's success continued during the 2024-25 campaign, as Morris helped guide Quinnipiac to a MAAC-best scoring margin (+2.5). The Bobcats averaged 73.9 points per game last year, which finished 4th in the program's Division I history.
Morris also helped Quinnipiac earn back-to-back MAAC Player of the Year honors. Matt Balanc captured the league's Player of the Year award in 2023-24 after averaging 17.9 points per game, then Amarri Monroe was named MAAC Player of the Year in 2024-25 after posting 18.1 points and 9.1 rebounds per contest.
Morris joined the coaching staff at Quinnipiac in 2017-18 after serving on the staff for six years at Boston University under Head Coach Joe Jones. He joined as an assistant in 2011 and was promoted to the associate head coach position in 2014.
During his time with the Terriers, Morris helped guide his teams to three postseason berths, the 2016 CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT), the 2014 National Invitation Tournament (NIT) and the 2013 CIT.
Prior to joining the staff at Boston University, Morris spent the previous two years at Division III powerhouse Williams College in Williamstown, Mass., where he was an assistant for head coach Mike Maker. The Ephs reached the NCAA Division III Final Four both years, including a runner-up finish in 2010.
Before joining Maker's staff, Morris spent four seasons at Towson. He joined the staff as a volunteer assistant in 2005, and then moved to director of basketball operations for the 2006-07 season before earning a promotion to assistant coach before the start of the 2008-09 campaign.
As a collegiate player, Morris helped lead Lycoming to a 53-27 record that included a MAC Freedom Conference championship and a trip to the 2004 NCAA tournament. He finished as the Warriors' all-time career assist leader with 355.
