HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac men's basketball program and Head Coach Tom Pecora announced today (April 27, 2026) the signing of guard Lucas Sekasi. Sekasi, a 6-foot-6 guard, joins the program after a successful two-year stint at Gannon University.
"Lucas is a versatile, high-impact player who knows how to win," said Quinnipiac Head Coach Tom Pecora. "He has the size to defend multiple positions and a proven ability to score and facilitate at a high level, and his growth over the last two years has been remarkable. We expect him to be a major part of our pursuit of a MAAC title."
Sekasi arrives in Hamden following a standout sophomore season (2025-26) where he earned All-PSAC West Second Team honors. He was a vital piece of a Golden Knights squad that won the NCAA Division II National Championship.
During his sophomore campaign, Sekasi averaged 10.9 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. He scored a season-high 25 points on 1/7/26 vs. Edinboro, and also posted a notable stat line in the national championship game against Lander with 13 points and six rebounds.
Sekasi's defensive prowess was equally impactful, as he finished his sophomore year with 63 steals and 15 blocked shots.
As a true freshman, Sekasi quickly established himself as a reliable playmaker for a Gannon team that ranked among the highest-scoring offenses in the nation. He appeared in 26 games (6 starts) in 2024-25 and was instrumental in the Golden Knights' run to the NCAA Atlantic Regional Final. He averaged 6.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per contest. His freshman season was highlighted by back-to-back 19-point performances against IUP and Edinboro, as well as a 10-assist game against Mansfield.
Prior to Gannon, Sekasi was a standout at Jackson-Reed High School in Washington, D.C., where he led his team to two DCIAA championships. He earned All-State and All-League status after averaging 8.4 points per game.
Sekasi is the fourth addition to the Bobcats' roster heading into the 2026-27 campaign. QU announced the addition of Malik Fields during the early signing period in November. The program then signed impact transfer Tayeshawn Cunningham-Pemberton on April 15, and inked big man Nas Hart on April 24.
