Men's Soccer Signs Full Back Taiga Matoba

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac men's soccer has announced the signing of Taiga Matoba, as revealed by Head Coach Eric Da Costa on Friday afternoon.
Matoba joins the Bobcats a transfer from Monroe University and will be in his junior year. He is from Perth, Australia and will play full back for QU.
"I was drawn to Quinnipiac University because of its strong competitiveness, great athletic culture, and dedication to student-athlete success. After speaking with Coach Da Costa, Jones, and O'Brien, it became obvious that this is my path to choose, a place that fits with my goals and the direction that my faith has guided me to," said Matoba.
The junior is excited to "get comfortable in the uncomfortable again." He wants to push his limits and grow while proving himself at the NCAA level. He expects to leave Quinnipiac as the best version of himself, contributing to team success, improving his skills, and developing a mindset that will help him both in sports and life.
Matoba appeared in 24 games the last two seasons at Monroe, tallying five points and 1811 minutes logged on the pitch.
"More than anything, I want to stay grounded, appreciate every moment, and make the people who believe in me proud. It's easy to take things for granted, but I know how much this journey means, not just to me, but to my family and friends who have supported me every step of the way. I'm here to give everything I have, every single moment." said Matoba.
