Bendowski, Delmond Power Offense as Bobcats Blitz Past Merrimack

HAMDEN, Conn. — The Quinnipiac women's lacrosse team rolled to its second win in as many outings on Wednesday afternoon, knocking off Merrimack by an 18-6 final at the Quinnipiac Lacrosse Stadium.
The Bobcat offense was powered by another standout performance from EllaGrace Delmond, who potted a career-high seven and finished one goal shy of the program's single-game record.
Cate Bendowski also poured on six points, with two goals and four assists while Mia Delmond pitched in a five-point afternoon.
The Bobcat defense was great once again, registering 12 caused turnovers and holding Merrimack to just 16 shots over the four quarters. Shannon Alden made nine saves, with six in the first 30 minutes.
After Merrimack cut the deficit to 3-2 late in the first, the Bobcats blitzed ahead on a ten-goal run, turning the score into a 13-2 halftime advantage. 11 different Bobcats recorded points, while 12 players picked up a ground ball and seven registered a caused turnover.

STATS AND NOTES
- Delmond's seven goals match her career-best, set against Mount on March 30, 2024. She also finished one away from Marissa Caroleo's program record of eight, tallied on March 12, 2012 against St. Mary's.
- She now has 35 on the season, tying her career high and is the second-most by a Bobcat player since 2015.
- Today's output helped her leapfrog Jennifer Larson on both the program's goals and points list. She stands seventh and 12th in program history, respectively.
- Mia Delmond's three goals place her into the top 20 all-time in a single-season, as her 34 tallies tie her with Annie Paquette and Marta Waldron for 19th.
- Sophia Coan tallied seven draw controls, bringing her even with Sophia Iaccino's program record of 61 in a single season.
- Shannon Alden's nine saves increased her save percentage to .511, which is good for ninth on the program's single-season charts and is tied for the best by a Bobcat keeper since 2009.
- Her seven wins also tie her with Samantha Tilts, Lexi DeStefano and Hannah Nelson for eighth-most in a single season in program history.
- The Bobcats assisted on 10 goals and scooped up 21 ground balls, both of which tie their season-high in each category.
- Cate Bendowski recorded a six-point day, her new career high, with two goals and four assists. Her previous best was four against New Hampshire and Colgate.
- Emma Miller-Ayala tied her career high with three ground balls and also added three caused turnovers, bringing her to 20 CTs on the year which is good for the team lead.
- Abby Wise finished the day with three caused turnovers, tying her colleigate best.
- Caelan O'Connor now has nine ground balls and eight caused turnovers over her last two outings. She also added her third assist of the year during today's contest.
