Quinnipiac Drops Regular Season Finale to Rider

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. — The Quinnipiac women's lacrosse program's regular season came to a close on Saturday afternoon, as the Bobcats fell to Rider by a 16-13 final on the road to finish the regular season at 9-7 and 4-4 in MAAC play.
Quinnipiac will advance into the MAAC postseason, where they will play the sixth-seed Sacred Heart in a first round matchup held at Siena on Friday, April 25.
EllaGrace Delmond led the offensive effort for the Bobcats, recording four goals and an assist while Peyton Choma added her first collegiate hat trick with a three-goal outing.
Caelan O'Connor was stout on the defensve end for Quinnipiac, recording a five-ground ball, five-caused turnover day but the Bobcats were not able to overcome a 22-9 defeat in the draw circle.
Rider jumped out to a four-goal lead in the second quarter and Quinnipiac was able to cut it to one on four separate occasions, even tying the matchup at 10-10 courtesy of a Mia Delmond woman-up tally, but Rider promptly scored four of the next five to take control back.
STATS AND NOTES
The Bobcats will face Sacred Heart in the First Round on Friday, April 25, held at the No. 3 seed Siena. The winner of that matchup will move to face the Saints on Sunday in Loudonville.

STATS AND NOTES
- Quinnipiac's nine wins in the regular season are tied for the most since 2011 with the 2023 squad that also advanced to the MAAC semifinals.
- With her four today, Delmond joined Marissa Caroleo as the only two Bobcats in program history to score that many in a season. Caroleo did it twice, with 46 in 2012 and a school-record 53 in 2011.
- Abby Wise finished the day with a goal and three assists, becoming the seventh Bobcat in program history to record 60 points in a single season.
- O'Connor's five caused turnovers are tied for the most by a Quinnipiac player this season, with Maggie Kennedy and Emma Miller-Ayala also hitting that number.
- Quinnipiac advances to its third playoff berth in the last five seasons.
