
Baseball Tops CCSU Saturday in Hamden

Gabe Wright went 3-for-4 with 4 RBI's and 2 runs scored at the dish to lead the way for the Bobcats. CJ Willis and Sebastian Mueller each added a pair of RBI's as well, while Johnny Knox added 3 hits of his own.
QU plated one run in the first, five in the second, and three in the third inning, then the Bobcats added one insurance run in the fifth and one in the sixth inning of play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Sean McCulloch scored on a throwing error by the CCSU pitcher in the bottom of the first inning to give the Bobcats an early 1-0 advantage.
Quinnipiac then plated five more runs to extend the lead in the second inning. Gabe Wright and Kyle Garbowski each singled to plate a run, then CJ Willis drove in two more runs with a hit of his own. Sebastian Mueller scored Garbowski with a sacrafice fly to make it 6-0 Bobcats through two frames.
CCSU would bounce back, scoring six runs in the top half of the third inning to tie the game.
Gabe Wright blasted a three-run homer in the bottom half of the inning, though, and QU claimed the lead once again (9-6).
Alex Irizarry and Sebastian Mueller each blasted a solo homer in the fifth and sixth inning, respectively, to extend QU's lead.
Matt Alduino shut the door with 1.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen to earn the save.
NEWS AND NOTES
- Eight different Bobcats tallied a hit, and eight different QU players scored a run.
- Quinnipiac has now won six consecutive games heading into next weekend's MAAC series against Fairfield.
- Gabe Wright now has 16 RBI's on the season after driving in a season-high four runs. His home run in the third inning is his second of the 2025 campaign.
- Alex Irizarry now has 10 home runs and 36 RBI's for the season.
- Sebastian Mueller raises his season-high home run total to 11. He has 41 RBI's in 37 games.
- Samuel Wright gave up just one earned run over 3.2 innings out of the bullpen for QU.
- Matt Alduino got four outs to finish off the non-confererence win for Quinnipiac. He got out of a bases loaded jam in the eighth, then retired the side in the ninth frame.
- Central Connecticut has seven losses on the season, three of which have come against the Bobcats.
- The Bobcats will now ready for a MAAC series at Fairfield on April 25, 26, and 27.
