Quinnipiac Finishes Regular Season at Rider

HAMDEN, Conn. — The Quinnipiac women's lacrosse team finishes off its regular season on Saturday afternoon, taking on Rider at 1 p.m., in Lawrenceville, N.J.
The Bobcats have clinched a spot in the 2025 MAAC postseason and will advance to next weekend's opening round and face an opponent to be determined based on the day's results.

Teams: Quinnipiac (9-6, 4-3 MAAC) vs. Rider (6-9, 2-5 MAAC)

The Bobcats nixed a three-goal deficit in the second quarter, finding their stride at the midway point and outscoring Canisius 10-1 in the final 28 minutes of the game, securing a 19-11 victory and a spot in the 2025 MAAC Playoffs.
Abby Wise had another standout day, finishing with three goals and five assists, while the Delmond sisters combined for 10 points. Emma Miller-Ayala led the Bobcats in the draw circle with eight draw controls, one off the school's record.
POSTSEASON BOUND
Quinnipiac is headed back to the conference playoffs for the second time in three seasons, securing one of the top eight spots in the standings to qualify for the tournament. They earned a home win in the 2023 version, knocking off Canisius before falling in the MAAC semifinals.
This year's revamped format would feature a neutral site contest at the No. 3 or 4 seed on Friday, April 25 with the winner moving on to play the host on Sunday.
DRAW QUEEN
Junior Sophia Coan became the program's new single-season draw control recordholder snatching her 62nd of the year on the opening draw of the game at Niagara, passing Sophia Iaccino's mark from 2021 for the top spot on the season leaderboard.
Her 4.53 draw controls per game are good for third in the league.
WISE ABOVE HER YEARS
Abby is having a career season in her final one in Hamden, capping her home collegiate career with an eight-point outing, notching three goals and five assists in the victory over Canisius. She became the first athlete since Katie Latonick in 2010 and the third overall to record eight or more points in two separate games, adding Wednesday's performance to a nine-point outing against New Hampshire on Feb. 22.
She also became the program's first player since 2013 and the fourth overall to reach the 30 assist mark, joining Christy Smallman, Sarah Allen and Latonick.
DELMOND DOMINATION
EllaGrace Delmond continues to climb the Quinnipiac program leaderboards, saving her best season for last in Hamden. The Rockville Centre, N.Y., native has 120 career goals and 145 points over her four-plus years, good for sixth and 11th, respectively. She also has 97 draw controls, which puts her three away from the 100 club that has seven members, currently.
Her 42 goals this season are the second-most by any Bobcat since 2012 and is 11 off the program record, held by Marissa Caroleo from 2011, who potted 53 during that campaign. Caroleo also owns the second-most in a season, scoring 46 the following year.
NATIONAL ACCOLADES
Inside Lacrosse recognized first-year netminder Shannon Alden as one of the Top 10 most impactful first-year students in NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse, the organization announced in mid-March. She enters the weekend ranked No. 16 nationally in saves per game (9.93), No. six in total saves (149) and No. 13 in save percentage (.495). All three of those numbers are top-two in the MAAC, with her saves per game number leading the conference. She recorded a 20-save performance against UMass Lowell, just the second by a Bobcat goalkeeper since 2003 (Kyle Larkin, 2017) and the tenth overall in program history. She is also one of six players nationally to record that mark.

Quinnipiac won the first-ever meeting between the schools last season, knocking off the Broncs by an 18-13 final in Hamden. EllaGrace Delmond recorded a six-point day, scoring five goals and dishing an assist while Abby Wise had a three-point day.
Maggie Kennedy recorded a pair of ground balls and three draw controls, while Sophia Coan led the way by grabbing seven draws. 10 different Bobcats recorded a caused a turnover.
