Quinnipiac, Fairfield Ready for In-State Battle

HAMDEN, Conn. — The Quinnipiac women's lacrosse program heads down the road to take on Fairfield on Wednesday afternoon as its league slate continues. This begins a quick, two-game road stretch that features the Stags on Wednesday and the Jaspers on Saturday morning.
THE MATCHUP
Teams: Quinnipiac (5-5, 0-2 MAAC) at Fairfield (4-6, 2-0 MAAC)

LAST TIME OUT: vs. Sacred Heart
The Bobcats raced out to a 6-2 advantage in the first 15 minutes, but were not able to hold on during their Senior Day matchup with Sacred Heart in a 14-11 loss in Hamden. Abby Wise recorded a five-point day, while EllaGrace Delmond added a hat trick and Peyton Choma chipped in a pair of goals as well.
WELCOME TO THE 100 CLUB
Abby Wise became the second Bobcat this season to cross the 100 point plateau, currently sitting at 104 for her career which is second on the team in career points. Her 53 career assists currently place her sixth in program history and are the most since Kyra Ochwat '15 had 58 over her collegiate career. Her 21 in a single season are the most since Sarah Allen had 41 in 2013.
NATIONAL ACCOLADES
First year netminder Shannon Alden was recognized by Inside Lacrosse as one of the Top 10 most impactful freshmen in NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse, the organization announced on Thursday afternoon. She enters the weekend ranked No. 6 nationally in saves per game (12.12), and No. 18 in save percentage (.491). She recorded a 20-save performance against UMass Lowell, just the second by a Bobcat goalkeeper since 2003 (Kyle Larkin, 2017) and the tenth overall in program history.
IN THE RANKINGS
The Bobcats are currently top-ten nationally in three categories, sitting sixth in free-position percentage (.559) and seventh in save percentage (.526). They lead the MAAC in five statistical categories a month into the season, including points per game (18.00), save percentage (.492), scoring offense (12.80), shot percentage (.456) and shots on goal per game (21.10).
THE MATCHUP vs. Fairfield
Fairfield won last year's meeting by a 17-5 final in Fairfield, the third consecutive meeting the two squads met at the southern school of the series.
Abby Wise recorded four assists on the day, a career high at that time.
