HAMDEN, Conn. — The Quinnipiac women's lacrosse program finishes its non-conference schedule on Sunday afternoon, taking on East Carolina in Greenville, N.C. at Noon.
It will be ECU's first home game of the 2025 campaign, as they've started 1-4 on the road. Quinnipiac is coming off a 16-13 loss to Bryant its last time out, currently standing at 5-2.
THE MATCHUP
Teams: Quinnipiac (5-2) at East Carolina (1-4)
Broadcast: ESPN+
Live Stats: StatBroadcast
LAST TIME OUT: at Bryant
It was a back and forth affair in Rhode Island, but the Bobcats were not able to hold onto a fourth-quarter advantage in the middle of the frame, as Bryant scored the last four goals in a 16-13 victory on March 8. The Quinnipiac lead grew as big as three in the second half but a quick, three-goal spurt over a 2:30 span enabled Bryant to come back and tie the game.
EllaGrace Delmond recorded a six-point day with five goals and an assist, while Mia Delmond had a hat trick and an assist thrown in. Emma Miller-Ayala was all over the field, recording a goal, four draw controls and five caused turnover.
IN THE RANKINGS
The Bobcats are currently top-five nationally in three categories, sitting second in free-position percentage (.613), fourth in shot percentage (.500) and fifth in save percentage (.549). They lead the MAAC in 10 statistical categories a month into the season, including fewest turnovers (13.86), scoring offense (14.43) and points per game (20.57).
Shannon Alden is currently one of the nation's best netminders, sitting first in the country in saves per game (12.57) and fifth in save percentage (.550). Mia Delmond is fourth nationally in free-position percentage (.857).
ALL DAY ALDEN
First year netminder Shannon Alden has been nothing short of terrific to start her college career for the Bobcats, currently in the top five in three NCAA categories. She recorded a 20-save performance against UMass Lowell, just the second by a Bobcat goalkeeper since 2003 (Kyle Larkin, 2017) and the tenth overall in program history.
WISE IN THE RECORD BOOKS
Abby Wise had a career day and came close to program history on Feb. 22, recording five goals and four assists for a nine-point outing against New Hampshire. She joined EllaGrace Delmond as the only Bobcats to have a nine-point day since the 2018 season and they are now two of eight to reach that mark in program history.
THE MATCHUP vs. East Carolina
This will be the first-ever meeting between the Bobcats and the Pirates.
It is the second straight season the Bobcats will be facing an American Athletic Conference opponent, as they defeated Old Dominion last season in Norfolk, Va. by a 14-10 final.
