CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. — Quinnipiac women's ice hockey defender Makayla Watson has been named to 2024-25 ECAC Hockey All-Rookie team, as announced by the league office Monday, Feb. 24.
The Brooks, Alberta native led ECAC Hockey first year defenders in points in conference play with seven, on two goals and five assists. She has tallied 16 points this season overall, good for third among all first year defenders nationally. Her 16 points are the most by a first year Bobcat defender since Kate Reilly '24 had 17 in the 2019-20 season.
Watson made her presence known in her first game in a Bobcat uniform, notching three points in a 7-1 win over Maine on Sept. 27. She currently is second on the Bobcats in plus/minus rating at +20 and is tied with Bryn Prier for the most points among all first years on QU. She also tallied three multipoint games in the regular season, fifth on the Bobcats.
Watson and the Bobcats are headed up the North Country this weekend for a three-game series in the ECAC Quarterfinals against Clarkson. QU will play its first game at 3:00 PM on Friday afternoon and then at 2:00 PM Saturday and Sunday (if necessary) at Cheel Arena in Potsdam, N.Y.
