QU Clinches Spot in Postseason Tournament in Atlantic City
HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac Men's Basketball earned another MAAC win on Sunday afternoon at M&T Bank Arena, as the Bobcats held on late to defeat Iona 79-74.
Amarri Monroe posted his fourth consecutive double-double in the win (seventh double-double in his last nine games). The Preseason MAAC Player of the Year recorded 20 points and 10 rebounds on 8-of-11 shooting.
Jaden Zimmerman (16 points), Doug Young (15 points), and Paul Otieno (14 points) all finished with double-digit scoring totals, as well.
QU moves to 12-3 in MAAC play with the victory – good for first place in the league standings once again. The Preseason MAAC favorite is now 10-2 at home in 2024-25.
With the win, the Bobcats have clinched a spot in the 2025 MAAC Basketball Championships at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

- Amarri Monroe is now averaging 20.6 points and 9.8 rebounds per contest over 15 league games. The Preseason MAAC Player of the Year has nine double-doubles already in conference contests, and 11 for the year. Monroe has six double-doubles in his last seven games. He shot 8-of-11 from the field, and 2-for-2 from behind the 3-point arc in the victory.
- Jaden Zimmerman chipped in with 16 points following a career-high 24 on Friday night at Fairfield. The first-year guard shot 7-of-12 in the win on Sunday, grabbing five rebounds over 29 minutes.
- Doug Young added 15 more points, finishing the weekend with 33 points off the bench over two Quinnipiac wins. Young went 6-of-11 from the floor, and scored points during the second half of action.
- Big man Paul Otieno finished with 14 points and nine rebounds. He grabbed five offensive boards, went 5-of-9 from the field, and score 10 points during the final 20 minutes.
- Khaden Bennett recorded eight points – all of which came in the second half of action. Bennett threw down an emphatic dunk with 2:04 left to give QU a four-point edge (73-69).
- Savion Lewis dished out six more assists.
- The Bobcats outscored the Gaels 26-12 in the paint, and held an 18-9 advantage in bench scoring.
- QU has won four straight over Iona, and the Bobcats have taken five of the last six meetings.
- Quinnipiac is now 27-8 in MAAC regular season games over the last two seasons under Head Coach Tom Pecora.
- QU retakes the court on Sunday, Feb. 23, as the Bobcats will head down to Draddy Gymnasium to continue league play vs. Manhattan.
