Monroe Tabbed Preseason Mid-Major All-American by Field of 68

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac men's basketball forward Amarri Monroe has been selected to the Field of 68 Preseason Mid-Major All-American 2nd Team, as revealed during the Mid Major Show on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025.
Monroe – who was selected as Preseason MAAC Player of the Year on Sept. 30 – will return to the Bobcats for his senior season in 2025-26. The Newburgh, New York-native was voted as the MAAC Preseason Player of the Year for the second time in two seasons and was a unanimous selection to the Preseason All-MAAC First Team.
A senior from Newburgh, NY, Monroe was crowned as 2024-25 MAAC Player of the Year and was a unanimous choice to the All-MAAC First Team last year. He led the Bobcats in points (18.1 PPG), rebounds (9.1 RPG), steals (2.3 SPG), and double doubles (14) in 32 contests last season. Monroe was the MAAC leader in rebounds per game (9.1), offensive rebounds per game (6.9), and double doubles, while ranking second in the conference in steals, steals per game, and free throws made.
Monroe impressed in conference play last year, averaging a double-double (19.8 PPG & 10.5 RPG) over 19 MAAC contests.
The junior forward became QU's second Player of the Year in as many seasons. Monroe is the fourth player in Quinnipiac program history to be named conference player of the year. Justin Rutty was named NEC Player of the Year in 2009-10, Cameron Young earned MAAC Player of the Year status in 2018-19, and Matt Balanc was crowned the league's Player of the Year in 2023-24.
Monroe and the Bobcats were recently selected as Preseason MAAC favorites once again. The Bobcats have captured back-to-back regular season titles, posting a 15-5 league record in each of the first two seasons under Head Coach Tom Pecora.
