
Baseball Drops Midweek Battle To Sacred Heart

The Bobcats will fall to 9-19 on the season, while the Pioneers will improve to 16-13 overall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Sacred Heart got their scoring started early as they struck for two runs in the opening inning. Their first run came in on a single through the right side and their second run came in on an RBI fielder's choice.
The game would remain 2-0 until the top of the fifth inning before Sacred Heart broke it wide open. A two-run homer got the scoring started for them in the inning to open a 4-0 lead. An RBI double made it a 5-0 game before a sacrifice fly made it six. With two outs in the inning and two runners on, the Pioneers launched a three-run blast to make it a 9-0 game.
The Bobcats scored three straight runs to make it a 9-3 game. Dominick Proctor singled to center field to score Gabe Wright and get the Bobcats on the board in the fifth inning. A couple batters later, Jared Zimbardo beat out an infield single to bring home Proctor and make it a seven-run deficit. In the bottom of the sixth inning, CJ Willi stole third and scored on a throwing error, making it a 9-3 game.
Sacred Heart would get two runs back in the seventh inning as a two-run double to left center field gave the Pioneers a 11-3 lead.
In the bottom half of the 8th inning, Christian Smith launched a solo home run to bring the Bobcats within seven.

The Pioneers would hit a solo homer of their own in the ninth inning to get the run right back and made it a 12-4 ballgame. The Bobcats wouldn't go down without a fight as they loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth inning. A bases loaded walk drawn by Matt DeRosa brought home a run and a sacrifice fly from Wright brought home another to make it a 12-6 game. The Pioneer pitching staff stopped the comeback to defeat QU 12-6.
