HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac baseball team swept the Canisius Golden Griffins to move into a playoff postion with a 10-4 win on Sunday afternoon in Hamden.

The Bobcats will improve to 14-21 overall and 6-6 in the MAAC, while Canisius will fall to 11-21 overall and 5-7 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Quinnipiac was the first to get on the scoreboard as CJ Willis singled to score Jared Zimbardo and give the Bobcats an early 1-0 lead.

Canisius would get that run back in the third inning as an RBI double would tie the game at one. In the bottom half of the inning, QU bounced right back as Keegan O'Connor blasted a solo homer to take back the lead.

Later in the inning, Matt DeRosa hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score Christian Smith from third and double the lead.

The Bobcats would strike for four runs in the fourth inning to extend their lead to six. Jared Zimbardo brought Julian Buchman with a sacrifice fly. Later in the inning and with two runners on, Christian Smith would launch a home run to make it a 7-1 game.

Canisius would get back within five as an RBI single to left center brought them their second run of the game. The Bobcats would respond again with three runs in the bottom half of the inning. Jared Zimbardo singled to center field to bring home both DeRosa and Proctor.

Keegan O'Connor would add on another run as he brought home Spencer Chard with a sacrifice fly to center field.

Canisius would get within seven in the eighth inning as an RBI single made it a 10-3 game. Another RBI single in the ninth inning made it a six-run game before the Bobcats bullpen shut it down.

Jared Zimbardo (2-for-4) and Christian Smith (1-for-4) each drove in three runs to lead the team.
