Baseball Drops Close Contest To Gardner-Webb

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Quinnipiac baseball team lost a close game against the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs by a score of 4-3 on Saturday afternoon.
The Bobcats will fall to 0-5 to start the 2024 season, while Gardner-Webb will improve to 2-4 on the campaign.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bulldogs struck first in the bottom of the opening frame off an RBI single from Peter Capobianco to score Alec Burns.
In the bottom of the second inning, Gardner-Webb would strike for two more runs as Alec Burns had a two-RBI single with two outs in the inning.
The Bobcats would scratch off two runs in the third inning to make it a one-run game. Gabe Wright scored Kyle Garbowski on a SAC fly for Quinnipiac's first run of the game. Jared Zimbardo stepped in as the next batter and ripped an RBI single to score Christian Smith from third.
Quinnipiac would tie the game in the sixth inning as Sean Swenson reached on an error by the shortstop and Jared Zimbardo scored on the play.
Gardner-Webb would take the lead in the seventh inning off a bases loaded walk and would hold on to seal the 4-3 win.
