
Bobcats Defeat Presbyterian For First Win Of 2024

The Bobcats will improve to 1-5 to start the 2024 season, while Presbyterian will fall to 5-3 on the campaign.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Presbyterian got the scoring started in the bottom of the third inning, scoring four runs on five hits. Quinnipiac struck right back in the top of the fourth inning, scoring three runs to make it a one-run game.
Jared Zimbardo tripled to get on base and later scored on a wild pitch. After Keegan O'Connor singled up the middle, Kyle Garbowski stepped in and tripled down the right field line and scored O'Connor. Garbowski later scored on an error to bring the Bobcats within one.
The Bobcats came up in the top of the fifth and scored four runs to take the lead, 7-4. Jared Zimbardo scored Matt DeRosa from third with a single to left center field. With two runners on, Keegan O'Connor stepped up to the dish and blasted a three-run shot over the left field fence.
The Blue Hose scored the game's next three runs to tie the game up at seven heading into the seventh inning.
In the top of the seventh inning, Jared Zimbardo stayed hot, singling home Matt DeRosa to retake the lead, 8-7.
Quinnipiac's bats came out hot in the eighth inning as they scored five runs to extend their lead to 13-7. Zimbardo drove in his third run of the game off another single to right field. As the next batter, O'Connor drove in his fourth run of the contest, singling home Gabe Wright from second. Garbowski tripled down the right field line for the second time of the game to score two runs. After Quinnipiac had two more batters get on, Kyle Garbowski later scored from third on a wild pitch.
Presbyterian made it a five-run game with a run in the bottom of the eighth, but the Bobcats got that run right back in the top of the ninth as Matt DeRosa scored on a wild pitch after reaching on a hit-by-pitch.
Ryan Hutchinson came in from the bullpen in the ninth inning and shut down the Blue Hose to cap off Quinnipiac's 14-8 win over Presbyterian.
