Bobcats Lose Hard Fought Battle In Overtime To Manhattan

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac women's basketball team fell to the Manhattan Jaspers, 72-66 in overtime, on Saturday afternoon in Riverdale, NY. Anna Foley led the Bobcats with 28 points on 11-for-19 (57.9%) shooting from the field.
With the loss, the Bobcats will fall to 10-14 on the season and 7-8 in the MAAC, while Manhattan will improve to 16-8 overall and 9-6 in conference play. Quinnipiac and Manhattan split the two meetings this season, with the home team winning each contest.
Manhattan opened up the game on a 8-2 run before the Bobcats made it an 8-6 at the media timeout. After the Jaspers hit two free-throws out of the break, Karson Martin knocked down a pull-up jumper to tie the game at 10.
The two sides traded points the rest of the way, but Quinnipiac took the lead at the end of the quarter as Ava Sollenne knocked down a buzzer beater from half court.
Quinnipiac was able to grow their lead to five as Kassidy Thompson knocked down a corner three to make it 26-21.
Manhattan would get back in the game as they took a two-point lead into the media timeout. The Jaspers were able to increase their lead to six as they took a 37-31 lead into the locker room at the half.
The Jaspers' lead would grow to nine before Ava Sollenne got her third three of the game to fall to bring the Bobcats within six at the media timeout.
Quinnipiac and Manhattan would trade baskets for the remainder of the quarter as the Jaspers lead the Bobcats by four, 46-42.
The two teams traded points to kick off the final quarter, but the Jaspers were able to establish a four-point lead at the media timeout. After more back-and-forth action, Anna Foley got a tough layup to fall to force the game into overtime.
