Bobcats Open Campaign on Nov. 6 at home vs. Maine
HAMDEN, CONN. - Three home contests highlight the Quinnipiac women's basketball team's 2023-24 non-conference schedule, which was released by Head Coach Tricia Fabbri and the program on Wednesday, July 26.
The Bobcats' non-conference slate features nine total games, including three home contests at the M&T Bank Arena in Hamden and four road bouts sandwiching a non-conference tournament at Navy. Of Quinnipiac's nine non-league opponents, five participated in the 2023 NCAA Tournament or 2023 WNIT.
"Our retooled Bobcat roster will be challenged in each of our non-conference games this season," Quinnipiac Head Coach Tricia Fabbri said. "A number of our opponents are coming off postseason successes including URI, Vermont, Holy Cross, Princeton, and Harvard. As in the past, we believe this schedule will allow us to be at our best when we begin our MAAC slate."
"I am excited for the Becoming Bobcats edition of our team this year," Fabbri added.
The new season will begin on Monday, Nov. 6, as the new-look Bobcats open the campaign at home inside of M&T Bank Arena with Maine. Unbeaten in three matchups with the Black Bears, Quinnipiac will take on the America East powerhouse for the first time since 2016, where the Bobcats earned its first-ever postseason national tournament victory in the WNIT.
Following the home opener against Maine, the Bobcats will head up to Boston for a Sunday matchup with a date against Harvard on Nov. 12. With the teams split at three wins apiece in the all-time series, the two sides will meet for the first time since 2019. In Harvard, the Bobcats will be taking on a team that returns nine letterwinners from last season's team that won 20 games and advanced to the Great 8 of the WNIT.
Quinnipiac returns to Hamden on Friday, Nov. 17, aiming for its fourth consecutive win over Vermont to open the all-time series. The first matchup between the two teams since 2015, the Catamounts are coming off a season where they won 25 games before qualifying for the 2023 NCAA Tournament.
After the home bout with Vermont, the Bobcats head to Annapolis, Md., for the Navy Classic, hosted by Navy on Nov. 25 and 26. Quinnipiac will take on Hofstra for the fourth time in program history and the first time since 2007, as well as Abilene Christian for the first time ever.
Following the weekend at Navy, Quinnipiac will head to Kingston, R.I. for a date with URI on Thursday, Nov. 30. The Bobcats will look to earn their sixth victory in seven all-time matchups with the Rams. Rhode Island is coming off a 26-win season that concluded in the Super 16 round of the WNIT. The last time Quinnipiac visited URI the Bobcats downed the Rams, 61-50, in the 2022 WNIT.
After the road contest against URI, Quinnipiac will take on two opponents who reached the 2023 NCAA Tournament to open the month of December. Quinnipiac will travel to take on Princeton (Dec. 6) before returning to Hamden for a home bout with Holy Cross (Dec. 10) inside of M&T Bank Arena.
Quinnipiac wraps its non-conference slate on Dec. 30 with a road bout with in-state rival Yale at the John J. Lee Amphitheater. The Bobcats are 12-5 all-time against Yale and have claimed victory in five of the last seven contests.
Fabbri, the all-time winningest coach in Quinnipiac women's basketball history, recently completed her 28th season as Head Coach at Quinnipiac. Last season, Fabbri helped guide the Bobcats to a 21-9 record, securing the program's 12th straight winning season under her helm. Fabbri enters the 2023-24 campaign with 503 career wins, ranking 31st among active Div. I head coaches.
