Bobcats Fall Short in Series Finale at Niagara

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. – Anthony Donofrio led the offense with two RBIs, as the Quinnipiac baseball came up short in the finale of its three-game set at Niagara, 4-3, Saturday afternoon at Bobo Field.
With the loss, the Bobcats dropped to 11-17 overall on the season and 5-4 in the MAAC, while the Purple Eagles improved to 14-11 on the 2023 campaign and 5-4 in the MAAC with the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Niagara struck first, scoring a run in the second inning to get out to a 1-0 advantage, however, Quinnipiac knotted the game at 1-1 in the third off an RBI single from Anthony Donofrio.
The two sides did not score again until the Mountaineers scored a run in the sixth to take a 2-1 lead. Trailing 2-1 in the eighth, Jared Zimbardo reached third on a one-out triple and then scored on an RBI groundout from Anthony Donofriop to knot the game at 2-2.
However, Niagara posted a run in the eighth to go up 3-2. The Bobcats did not go away quietly, as they were able to load the bases with nobody out in the ninth. Later in the inning, Braydon Seaburg served an RBI single to the outfield to knot the contest at 3-3.
However, Niagara posted a run in the ninth to secure the 4-3 win.
