Playoff Lacrosse Returns to Hamden Sunday as Bobcats host WLAX Quarterfinals

HAMDEN, Conn. — For the first time in program history, the Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team will host a MAAC Postseason contest, welcoming No. 5 seed Canisius to Hamden for a Noon first draw on Sunday.
The winner will face either No. 1 Fairfield or No. 2 Siena in Friday's semifinal action, held in Fairfield at the home of the regular season champions.

- In a rain-delayed affair in Emmitsburg, the Bobcats outlasted Mount 5-4 to clinch a home game in the upcoming MAAC Quarterfinals. Quinnipiac used a three-goal first quarter to take advantage and never looked back en route to the victory.
- Entering the fourth up 5-2, Quinnipiac survived a late surge from the Mountaineers that saw them climb to 5-4 and have the ball, but Kat Henselder made one of her 12 saves at the most crucial time, denying the hosts with 11 seconds on the clock.
- Desiree Kleberg and Emily Feeney had multi-point days, recording a goal and assist each. Julia Steneck scooped up a career-high six ground balls.
- The Bobcats roared back from a three-goal, fourth-quarter deficit on Senior Day Saturday, knocking off Canisius 9-8 in overtime at the QU Lacrosse Stadium.
- Desiree Kleberg scored three of her of her four goals in the final 5:59 of regulation and the overtime winner, while EllaGrace Delmond's second goal of the afternoon tied the game with 56 seconds remaining.
- Lauren Hayes recorded three ground balls and three caused turnovers, while Melissa Murphy added a trio of ground balls as well.
- Canisius makes its 17th straight appearance in the postseason and is looking for its seventh league title during that stretch but haven't earned one since 2017.
- The Griffs had three players selected to the All-MAAC First Team, as midfielders Skylar McArthur and Paige Stachura earned nodds, along with defender Jill Galanti.
- They also had three selections to the All-Rookie team, with Jody Chu, Meg Hiltz and Maggie Tifft being voted on by the league's coaches.
- The Bobcats had four players selected to All-Conference teams, earning a pair of major individual awards as announced by the league on Friday afternoon.
- First-year Mia Delmond and senior Kat Henselder were selected as the league's Rookie and Goalkeeper of the Year, respectively.
- Quinnipiac earned three, Second Team All-Conference selections, with Delmond joined by Sophie Spencer and Melissa Murphy.
