Bobcats Advance To MAAC Semifinals After Win Over Canisius

HAMDEN, Conn. — The Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team is headed to the MAAC semifinals after a 10-4 victory over the Canisius Golden Griffins on Sunday afternoon.
The hosts scored the game's first five goals, giving them a 5-0 lead with 3:09 left in the first quarter. Desiree Kleberg kicked things off with a free-position goal less than a minute into the game. Sophie Spencer followed it up with a goal of her own on the woman-up advantage. Maddie Deegan, Kleberg, and Emily Feeney notched goals on the five goal run. Canisius would get one back at the end of the first quarter.
Emily Feeney would kick off the second quarter with her second goal of the game to give the Bobcats a 6-1 lead. Canisius would score two goals to end the quarter and the Bobcats headed into the locker room at the half up 6-3.
Quinnipiac scored four of the game's final five goals to clinch the win over the Golden Griffs to advance to the MAAC Semi-finals against Fairfield.

The Bobcats will travel to Fairfield to battle the Stags in the MAAC Semifinals at Noon on Friday, May 5.

- Quinnipiac is heading to the MAAC Semifinals for the first time since joining the conference in 2014.
- The Bobcats defense stepped up big allowing just four goals against for the second straight game.
- Quinnipiac allowed just one goal in the second half for the second straight game.
- Feeney's hat-trick was her fourth of the season and third in the last five games. Feeney also had an assist for her fourth, four-point game of the season.
- Desiree Kleberg had two goals and recorded her 12th multi-point game of the season. Kleberg leads the team with 30 goals and is tied for the team lead with 41 points.
- Maddie Deegan and Abby Wise both recorded multiple goals in the winning effort. Deegan's season goal total jumped to 19 while Wise is up to 15 goals on the year.
- Amy Nicoloff led the way with four draw controls. Maddie Deegan controlled three draws and Spencer, Iaccino, and Feeney picked up one draw control each.
- The Bobcats outshot the Golden Griffs, 31-15 with the shots on goal being 17-13 Quinnipiac.
- The Bobcats were perfect on clears, 20-20, for the third time this season.
The Bobcats will travel to Fairfield to battle the Stags in the MAAC Semifinals at Noon on Friday, May 5.
