Zhang and Sakoda Tie for Third After Round One at Kingsmill Intercollegiate

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Quinnipiac women's golf opened play at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate, as the Bobcats are tied for eighth place in a field of 19 at the tournament held at the Kingsmill River Course Monday afternoon.
The Bobcats saw two golfers sit within the top five, as Fuge Zhang and Kaylee Sakoda are tied for second place after shooting 74 (+2).
Quinnipiac sits in tied in eighth place with St. John's after scoring 311 (+23) after the first 18 holes of play. High Point leads the field after the first round after shooting 300 (+12), while Longwood narrowly trails in second after scoring 305 (+17).
Sakoda closed the first round on fire, shooting for par or birdie in eight of the final nine holes of play. She would score 35 (-1) on the back nine. Zhang opened the day in great fashion, scoring par on seven holes on the front nine, while picking up birdies on the remaining two holes to shoot 34 (-2) to start.
Aimee Uchida (78; +6) and Emily Luu (85; +13) rounded out Quinnipiac's grouping, tying for 27th and 74th, respectively.
The Bobcats will be back in action on Tuesday, March 28, when they wrap play with the second round of the Kingsmill Intercollegiate.
