QU Earns Second Overall Seed; Will Play Merrimack Friday in Bridgeport, Conn.
INDIANAPOLIS — After a 30-win season that landed them No. 2 in both national polls, as well as the Pairwise rankings, the Quinnipiac University men's ice hockey team earned an at-large bid to the 2023 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Championship, as announced during the tournament's selection show on ESPNU Sunday night.
The Bobcats will play in the Bridgeport Regional as the pod's top seed, taking on Merrimack out of Hockey East on Friday, March 24 (5:30 PM) at Total Mortgage Arena. The winner of that game will take on the winner of Harvard and Ohio State on Sunday with a trip to the Frozen Four in Tampa, Fla., on the line.

Quinnipiac's historic ECAC campaign featured 20 wins in 22 league games, the first league team to do that since the 1988-89 season when Harvard hit that milestone. They also tied their regular season record for wins, taking home 28 of its 34 overall contests during the year.
They feature the nation's top scoring defense, allowing 1.59 goals per game over its 37 games, and also lead the nation in both winning percentage (.851) and scoring margin (2.32). The Bobcats are second in faceoff win percentage (.572) and third in scoring offense (3.92), total assists (258) and total points (403) entering the national tournament.
It is the fourth consecutive bid to the NCAA Tournament for Rand Pecknold's club. They defeated St. Cloud State in last year's First Round before falling to Michigan in the Regional Final. The Bobcats are seeking their first Frozen Four appearance since the 2015-16 campaign.
