Feeney Records Hat Trick in Homecoming; Bobcats Bested at Villanova
3/18/2023 1:09:00 PM | Women's Lacrosse
PHILADELPHIA — In her return to her hometown, senior Emily Feeney recorded a team-high four points with a three-goal, one-assist day but the Quinnipiac University women's lacrosse team fell to Villanova 16-12 on Saturday morning.
A back-and-forth affair into the third quarter, neither team led by more than a goal in the first 30 minutes, with Feeney's third of the half putting her squad up 6-5 at the 6:14 mark of the second.
Villanova would score three in a row and eight of the next 10 goals overall to take control, ballooning its lead to five at 13-8 at the end of the third.
Quinnipiac would not go quietly, however, as the Bobcats quickly strung together three goals in under three minutes to cut the deficit to two.
The Wildcats would reassert control in the draw circle towards the end, an area they won 22 of 32 at, to keep the visiting Bobcats at bay.
Tanya Kotowicz's club again made its opposition turn the ball over, forcing 18 from Villanova on the day but could not overcome 20 of their own on the offensive end.
STATS AND NOTES
Quinnipiac returns to action on Wednesday afternoon, taking on Central Connecticut at 3 p.m., in New Britain, Conn.
The Bobcats return home for alumni day on Saturday, March 25 when they open league play with Marist at Noon at the QU Soccer and Lacrosse Stadium.
