PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – The Quinnipiac baseball team opens the 2023 campaign on Saturday, as the Bobcats are set for a weekend of action at the Snowbird Classic held at Port Charlotte, Fla. Quinnipiac will open the season with a doubleheader Saturday against Iowa and Indiana State, before wrapping the weekend on Sunday against Iowa.

After the opening weekend at Port Charlotte, the Bobcats are set for 11 more road games before hosting St. John's in Hamden on March 18
Next up the Bobcats will travel to take on Maryland Eastern Shore in a three-game series

Call Me Maves

Kyle Maves returns for as a grad student for his fifth season
Last season, Maves held a career-high .275 batting average
Set career-high marks in 2022 in hits (50), doubles (8), runs scored (41), RBIs (22) and stolen bases (23)
Led the team with three triples in 2022
Maves has recorded 47 career steals, slotting him third in the program's Div. I record book for thefts

Trust in Jared

Jared Zimbardo returns to Hamden for his junior campaign
Batted a career-best .307 and boasted 50 hits and an on-base percentage of .380 last season
Recorded career highs in runs scored (28), doubles (11), triples (2), home runs (6), RBIs (24), and stolen bases (7)
His 50 hits were tied for third on the team last season

Saint Anthony Donofrio

Anthony Donofrio was the lone Quinnipiac player to earn All-MAAC Preseason honors heading into 2023
Last season, Donofrio earned All-MAAC Second Team honors as an outfielder
Donofrio batted .343 in 2022, boasting a team-best 61 hits, while adding 11 doubles, seven homers, two triples and 25 RBI's
Donofrio was a menace on the basepaths, swiping 15 bags last season
Donofrio averaged nine strikeouts per nine innings pitched, in just over 4.0 innings of work.
Donofrio closed the 2022 campaign in solid fashion, batting over .390 in his final 23 games on the year
During that span, he totaled six homers, six doubles, 13 RBIs and 25 runs scored

QU baseball head coach John Delaney announced a new team member, signing six-year-old Cameron Wilson through Team IMPACT in a press conference held in the Mount Carmel Campus Rec Center on Feb. 12, 2022
He will participate in many activities with the baseball team over the next two years, including games, practices, and other team events

The Bobcats will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 25 when QU opens a three-game series at Maryland Eastern Shore
