HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac men's ice hockey will raise its national championship banner on Saturday night in Hamden, as the No. 3 Bobcats play host to No. 6 Boston College at M&T Bank Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 PM, televised live on NESN and ESPN+.
The Bobcats will then head to Boston on Sunday for an exhibition vs. #19 Northeastern.
Home Sweet Home
- Quinnipiac enters the 2023-24 campaign with five players from the state of Connecticut, the most since the program turned Division I.
- A pair of granite state players return from last season in Victor Czerneckianair and Timothy Heinke, while Cooper Moore came home after three years at North Dakota and Matthew McGroarty and Andon Cerbone chose to play their college hockey in their home states.
Keep It Together
- Once the line was put together on Nov. 19 against Princeton, the Lipkin-Quillan-Graf line was one of the most successful in college hockey. Along with their combined 140 points on the year, the trio led their squad to 24 wins in 28 tries.
Sophomores Sizzling
- The second-year class as a whole was a major part of the offense a season ago, led by the aforemention Lipkin-Quillan-Graf line.
- Sophomores combined for 140 of the Bobcats' 449 points a year ago, or 31.1 percent of the scoring, and all of them returned for their junior campaigns.
All-American Status
- Three Bobcats were selected as 2022-23 All-Americans at the annual awards reception, with Collin Graf being tabbed as a First Team selection and Yaniv Perets and Zach Metsa earning Second Team honors.
- Metsa and Perets were both tabbed as selections last season, while Graf is a first-time honoree.
Three's a Crowd
- Entering last year's NCAA Tournament action, only four Bobcats in Quinnipiac's history had recorded three points in an NCAA Tournament game, with the record being owned by Matthew Peca, who had four in the 2013 Regional Final against Union.
- Three players did it in tournament games a season ago, with Sam Lipkin, Jacob Quillan and Zach Metsa all hitting the mark during the national championship run.
Winning is Everything
- The Bobcats had one of the winningest seasons in program history during 2022-23, winning 34 games overall, besting the program's wins record, and 20 ECAC games, the most by any team in the league since the 1988-89 campaign.
- Rand Pecknold's club hit 32 wins in its Frozen Four year of 2015-16, as well as last season's Regional Final appearance. It is the winningest season by a national champion since 2015-16, when North Dakota went 34-6-4.
