
No. 2 Bobcats Nipped in OT by No. 6 Boston College on Banner Night

HAMDEN, Conn. — After Mason Marcellus' first collegiate goal evened the scoreline to send the game to overtime, the No. 2 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team fell to No. 6 Boston College, 2-1 in overtime in front of 3,700 fans at M&T Bank Arena on Saturday night in Hamden, Conn.
The first-year forward was first to a loose puck behind the Eagles' netminder and stuffed it home with 5:28 to go in regulation, knotting the proceedings at 1 and adding an extra period to a highly-anticipated season opener.
Cutter Gauthier won it in overtime, sending a wrister high into the net with 9.5 seconds remaining to clinch the victory for Boston College.
STATS AND NOTES
The Bobcats' lone exhibition on the schedule is Sunday afternoon, when they take on Northeastern at 4 p.m., at Matthews Arena in Boston. The regular season continues Oct. 13 and 14 when they play a home-and-home with American International.
