HAMDEN, Conn—Quinnipiac women's ice hockey opens the season on the road as they are set to take on the Maine Black Bears Friday and Saturday, Sept. 23-24. They head to Orono coming off of a 2-1 exhibition win over UConn (Sept. 17)
Last Time Out
The Bobcats had their first and only preseason matchup of the 2022-23 season against the UConn Huskies on Sept. 17, a 2-1 win for QU. Nina Steigauf and Alexa Hoskin each scored in the win for the Bobcats. Steigauf recorded two points on the night with her goal and assist to Hoskin, and Jess Schryver tallied an assist.
The first period was scoreless, but the Bobcats were able to find the back of the net just eight minutes into the second period when Schryver found Steigauf in front of the net. UConn tied it up at one just under nine minutes into the third period. However, Hoskin answered with her own score five minutes later to secure the Bobcats' victory.
Scouting Maine
Maine is returning Ida Kuoppala, who led the program in goals, assists and total points. Other notable points leaders include Alexandra Johnson, Morgan Trimper and Mira Seregely. The Black Bears added 11 new members to their roster bringing in Union graduate transfer Grace Heiting and Holy Cross transfer Emma Lange.

The Bobcats are 16-14-2 all time against Maine, their longest win streak coming in at 11 straight in 2012-2017. Their largest margin of victory sits at 6-1 and averaging 2.66 goals against the Black Bears. Quinnipiac has scored 85 goals against Maine in their 21-year history of competing against each other.
A Look at the Preseason Polls
Quinnipiac was ranked fourth in ECAC Hockey Preseason Coaches Polls, and eighth in DCU/USCHO Polls and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine heading into the season. Seven members of the ECAC Hockey conference were ranked in the top 15 preseason polling.
Bobcats in the Net
The Bobcats are bringing back graduate Logan Angers and junior Catie Boudiette between the pipes and adding first year netminder Tatum Blacker to the mix. Angers, a Winnipeg, Manitoba native posted an 11-2-1 record last season with a .932 save percentage and 1.45 goals against average. Boudiette enters her junior year with a career record of 4-0-0, .43 GAA and a .968 save percentage. Tatum Blacker joins the Bobcat family from Vernon Hill, Ill. Where she was a member of the Chicago Young Americans.
New Bobcats
Quinnipiac welcomed six new members to the team including five freshman and Brown transfer Shay Maloney. The first year Bobcats are defenseman Zoe Uens and Tiana McIntyre, forwards Madison Chantler and Sami Bowlby and goaltender Tatum Blacker. Shay Maloney comes to Quinnipiac after being captain of the Brown women's ice hockey program her senior year. She posted 13 goals, 17 assists and 30 points in 57 games with the Bears.
