Softball Drops Two Games at Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Quinnipiac softball team dropped two games at Fairfield on Sunday, May 8. The Stags took game one by a score of 2-5 and the second game by a score of 1-12 (five innings).
Quinnipiac moves to 12-27 overall and 5-13 in the MAAC. Fairfield improves to 23-20 overall and 13-5 in the MAAC.
Game One Recap:
Second Inning – The Bobcats took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Karolyn Walker was walked and advanced to second on a passed ball. Sydney Horan was also walked. Brooke Hilliard hit a single, allowing Walker to score.
Sixth Inning – Quinnipiac added one more run in the top of the sixth to cut Fairfield's lead to three runs. Kayla Jensen hit a single up the middle and later advanced to third base of a bunt from Gianna Palmisano. Walker hit a ground out to the shortstop, allowing Jensen to score.
The Stags would hold on to win the first game of the doubleheader, 5-2.
Notable Stats:
First Inning – Quinnipiac got on the board early in the game, but could not find any momentum throughout the rest of game two. Brooke Hilliard scored off of a double from Kayla Thomas. The Bobcats took a 1-0 lead, but the Stags scored four runs in the bottom of the first to take back the lead, 4-1.
The Stags would score eight unanswered runs to take the lead to 12-1 and the game would end after the fifth inning.
Notable Stats:
Quinnipiac will face Monmouth for a doubleheader on Monday, May 9 at 12 p.m.
