Thomas Homers Twice, Bobcats Drop Final Two Games at Monmouth

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Quinnipiac softball team dropped the final two games of the regular season at Monmouth. The Hawks took game one, 3-1, and game two, 5-3. Kayla Thomas led the Bobcats in the second game with two home runs.
Quinnipiac finished the season 12-29 overall with a 5-15 MAAC record.
Game One Recap:
Second Inning – The Bobcats took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Kayla Jensen hit a single to center field to get the inning started. Jensen later stole second and third base on two different plays. Gianna Palmisano hit an RBI-single to right field, allowing Jensen to score.
The Hawks would add one run in the third inning to tie the game, 1-1. Monmouth then added two more runs in the sixth inning and kept the Bobcats off the scoreboard to earn the 3-1 victory.
Notable Stats:
Fourth Inning – Monmouth took a 2-0 lead in the second inning, but Quinnipiac cut the lead to one run in the fourth. Thomas hit her first home run of the game to left center field.
Sixth Inning – With Brooke Hilliard on second base, Thomas stepped up and hit her second home run of the game to give Quinnipiac a 3-2 lead.
Monmouth came back and tallied three runs in the sixth inning to take a 5-3 lead and would hold on to win.
