Team Nearly Erases Seven-Goal Deficit

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac women's lacrosse team dropped their third conference matchup of the year on Saturday afternoon to the Manhattan Jaspers, 20-15. Junior Sophia Iaccino tallied four goals, pushing her season total to 17. Junior goalkeeper Kat Henselder made eight saves for the Bobcats in the defeat.

Senior attack Sydney Skalstad and junior attack Desiree Kleberg recorded hat-tricks. In total, seven Bobcats recorded goals in the loss to Manhattan.

GAME SUMMARY

Manhattan started the scoring early in this game, tallying three goals within the game's first five minutes to give them the early 3-0 lead.
Sydney Skalstad scored Quinnipiac's first goal of the game off a pass from Sophia Iaccino to bring the Bobcats within two.
The Jaspers would answer right back with four goals to round out the scoring for the first quarter.
Quinnipiac would enter the second quarter trailing Manhattan 7-1.
45 seconds into the second quarter, Grace Lipponer capitalized on the man advantage to extend Manhattan's lead to 8-1.
Less than a minute later, Sydney Skalstad tallied her second goal of the game to shrink the lead to six.
With 12:52 on the clock, Keara Patterson found Sophia Iaccino, who fired home her first goal of the game.
51 seconds later, Emily Feeney cut Manhattan's lead to four with her ninth goal of the season.
Just 27 seconds later, Emily Feeney made a nice pass to Gabby Beckett who ripped one home to make it a three goal game, Manhattan still led 8-5.
The Jaspers responded with a goal of their own to push their lead back to four, 9-5.
With just over 10 minutes left in the second quarter, Sophia Iaccino recorded her second goal within three minutes to bring the Bobcats back within three.
On the man advantage with 9:28 to go in the half, Manhattan would answer and make it a 10-6 ballgame.
The Bobcats would respond with three goals within a minute to bring this game within one. Ellagrace Delmond, Emily Feeney, and Sophia Iaccino tallied the three goals to get the Bobcats right back in the game.
Manhattan would extend the lead to two while down a player with 6:16 to play in the first half.
The third quarter was all Manhattan. The Jaspers scored five goals in the quarter to make it a 16-9 game heading into the final quarter.
Manhattan would start the fourth quarter right where they left off with a goal just 21 seconds in to make it a 17-9 game.
Sydney Skalstad put a halt to the Jaspers run with her third goal of the game and brought the Bobcats within seven with just over 12 minutes left to play.
The Jaspers would add three man advantage goals within 1:32 to extend their lead to ten, 20-10.
Desiree Kleberg scored three straight goals for the Bobcats to bring them within seven with 2:24 to play.
Meng Meun Young scored her second goal of the season to bring the Jaspers' lead down to six with 1:17 to play.
The Bobcats added one more goal from the hands of Sophia Iaccino with 24 seconds to play to get within five.
Quinnipiac's comeback would run out of time as the Jaspers finished the win by a final score of 20-15.

NOTES

The Bobcats outshot the Jaspers, 39-35.
Both teams were very efficient clearing their defensive zones as Quinnipiac went 14-15 on clears and Manhattan went 17-20.
The Bobcats caused 16 Manhattan turnovers.
The Bobcats controlled 24 draws.
