
Softball Splits Sunday Doubleheader with Siena

Game One Recap:
First Inning – The Bobcats took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Bridget Nasir got the offense going with a double to left center field. Brooke Hilliard hit a single to center field, allowing Nasir to advance to third. Kayla Thomas then hit a sacrifice fly to send Nasir home.
Second Inning – Siena took a 4-1 lead in the top of the second inning, and Quinnipiac came back to cut the lead to one in the bottom of the second. Kayla Jensen led the inning off and hit a single to center field. Gianna Palmisano then hit a double to center field, allowing Jensen to score. Palmisano advanced to third after Karolyn Walker hit a sacrifice bunt. Nasir sent a single to left field, and Palmisano scored, taking the score to 4-3 in favor of Siena.
Fourth Inning – The Bobcats took a 5-4 lead in the fourth inning. Palmisano got the inning started with a single. Walker then doubled to right field, and Palmisano scored. Nasir hit a triple to left field, allowing Walker to score.
Fifth Inning – Quinnipiac extended the lead to 6-4 in the fifth. Lala Pascual hit a double to right center. Alyssa Noce then came in to pinch run for Pascual. Jensen hit a single to center field, and Noce advanced to third. Palmisano advanced to first on a fielder's choice, allowing Noce to score.
Sixth Inning – Nasir added another run for the Bobcats in the sixth inning after Thomas hit her second sacrifice fly of the game.
The Bobcats would hold on to win the game, 7-5.
Notable Stats:
- Nasir led the team at the plate, going 4-4 with two runs and two RBIs.
- Jensen and Palmisano both went 2-3. Palmisano tallied two RBIs and two runs, and Jensen notched a run of her own.
- Horan pitched five innings with five strikeouts, earning her seventh win of the year.
Game Two Recap:
Siena opened the game taking a 8-0 lead. The Bobcats would fight back and cut the lead down to three, but the Saints would eventually hold on to win.
Second Inning – Quinnipiac notched one run off a catcher's interference call to cut the Saints' lead to seven runs.
Sixth Inning – The Bobcats added four more runs in the sixth inning. Nasir got on first base with a single. Hilliard then hit a single of her own, and Nasir advanced to second. Thomas was walked, loading the bases. Pascual was hit by a pitch, allowing Nasir to score, and Jensen was later walked with the bases loaded, allowing Hilliard to score. Pascual and Thomas scored runs of their own after Palmisano hit a single.
Notable Stats:
- Taylor Walton came in to pitch relief in the second inning. She pitched 5.1 innings with three strikeouts and two runs allowed.
- Hilliard went 2-4 with one run.
- Palmisano went 2-3 with two RBIs.
Quinnipiac will face Merrimack on Wednesday, April 27 at 3 p.m.
