
Bobcats Split MAAC Home Opener with Manhattan

The Bobcats move to 6-19 on the season and picked up the team's first MAAC win. Manhattan is also 6-19 on the season with a 1-3 MAAC record.
Game One Recap:
Second Inning - The Bobcats scored the first run in the second inning. Kayla Jensen reached first base on an error by Manhattan. Jensen later advanced to second after Taylor Walton grounded out to third base with a sacrifice bunt. Serena Fogg tallied an RBI single, allowing Jensen to score.
Fifth Inning - Down 3-1, Quinnipiac came back to take the lead in the fifth inning. Karolyn Walker reached first base with a single. Walker then advanced to second after Bridget Nasir hit a sacrifice bunt. Brooke Hilliard was then hit by a pitch. Walker later scored off an RBI single from Kayla Thomas. Lala Pascual loaded the bases after being walked. Hilliard then scored off a sacrifice fly from Jensen. Thomas scored the Bobcats' fourth run of the game off a double from Walton.
Seventh Inning - The Bobcats tied the game, 5-5, in the bottom of the seventh inning. Lala Pascual got the inning started with a single, and Cy Gonzalez came in to pinch run. Fogg later hit a single, allowing Gonzalez to score an unearned run to tie the game.
Eighth Inning - After holding the Jaspers without a run in the top of the eighth, the Bobcats scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth. Walker reached first base after the Jaspers recorded an error. Hilliard hit a single, allowing Walker to move to third base. Thomas hit a sacrifice fly out to center field, and Walker tagged up and scored the walk-off run.
Notable Stats:
- Fogg and Thomas led the team with two RBIs each.
- Walker went 1-3 with two runs scored.
- Both the Bobcats and Jaspers each recorded eight hits.
- There were nine errors total in today's first game.
- The Bobcats tallied nine strikeouts; Jaclyn Gonzalez led the the pitching staff with five.
Third Inning - Manhattan jumped out to a 4-0 lead early in the game, but the Bobcats came back and tied the game, 4-4, in the third. The Bobcats' hit three singles in a row, allowing Walker, Nasir and Hilliard to load the bases. Thomas was then hit by a pitch, and Walker scored. Nasir then scored off a sacrifice fly ball from Pascual. Hilliard scored one of her own from an RBI single by Jensen. Thomas added one more run, tying the game, 4-4.
Fifth Inning - The Bobcats added one more run in the fifth inning. Hilliard was on third towards the end of the inning. Jensen hit her second RBI single of the game, and Hilliard scored.
The Jaspers tallied four runs in the top of the sixth and two more in the seventh inning to secure a 11-5 win.
Notable Stats:
- Both Nasir and Hilliard went 2-4 in game two. Nasir added one run, while Hilliard notched two of her own.
- Jensen led the team with two RBIs, going 2-4.
- Four different pitchers saw time in the circle for Quinnipiac. Three strikeouts were recorded.
- The Jaspers tallied 11 hits, while Quinnipiac notched 10.
Quinnipiac will host Saint Peter's in a make-up doubleheader on Monday, April 11. First pitch coming at 12 p.m.
