ALBANY, N.Y. - Senior forward Lexie Adzija has received the 2022 Mandi Schwartz Student-Athlete of the Year Award, as announced by ECAC Hockey on Sunday, Feb. 20. Adzija is the fourth Bobcat to win the prestigious award.
Adzija was named a top-three finalist on Feb. 16, alongside Cornell's Lindsay Browning and Union's Grace Heiting. The St. Thomas, Ontario native was presented the award after the conclusion of the regular season at the Bobcats' Senior Day celebration on Feb. 19.

The Mandi Schwartz Student-Athlete of the Year award is presented annually to an ECAC Hockey female player in honor of Mandi Schwartz, who played ice hockey at Yale and passed away in April 2011 after a long battle with acute myeloid leukemia. Adzija is one of the 12 talented student-athletes across the ECAC who have been selected as finalists for the prestigious award. To be selected, a student-athlete must be a leader within their team, the classroom and the community.
Adzija holds an assistant captain position on the women's ice hockey team this year and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Business Analytics after completing her Bachelor of Science degree in Accouting and her MBA in May of 2022. Adzija has consistently been one of best in the nation in the face-off circle and has led the team in scoring her sophomore and junior seasons. This season, she has recorded seven goals and 18 assists for 25 points, which is ranked third on the team and four points away from tying her career high. Adzija also leads the team with a +25 on-ice rating.
Adzija is true leader on and off the ice and not only in the Quinnipiac community, but also the Hamden community. As a representative of Q-Coor, she has consistently helped Quinnipiac athletics in creating community service projects around Hamden. She gives 100% in everything she does and never backs down from a challenge. Adzija is set to lead the Bobcats into the post-season as the team is seeded fourth in the ECAC Hockey Tournament and will host No. 5 Clarkson Feb. 25-27.
Three former Bobcats have won the Mandi Schwartz Student-Athlete of the Year award - Kenzie Lancaster '19, Kristen Tamberg '16 and Chelsea Laden '15. Grace Markey '21 was named a top three finalist last year.
