Bobcats' Dream Run Comes to an End vs. Wisconsin in NCAA Tournament

MADISON, WI. – The Quinnipiac women's volleyball 2022 dream campaign came to an end on Friday evening, as the Bobcats came up short against top-seeded Wisconsin in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament, 3-0, inside of the UW Field House.
With the loss, Quinnipiac ends its campaign as the 2022 MAAC Champions and with 14 wins, tied for the most by the program in a single season during head coach Kyle Robinson's tenure.

SET ONE (25-15, Wisconsin)
The Bobcats brought the fight early, narrowly trailing the Badgers at 8-7 through the first 15 points of the match. However, Wisconsin immediately went on a 3-0 run to push ahead 11-7, forcing a Quinnipiac timeout. After falling behind 12-7 in the set, the Bobcats responded with a swift 4-1 run to trim the deficit to 13-11 in the frame.
The Badgers did not waver, responding with a 6-1 run of their own to extend the lead to 19-12, forcing the Bobcats to use their final timeout of the set. Quinnipiac was able to cut the score to as close as 19-14, but it wasn't enough as Wisconsin took the opening set, 25-15.
SET TWO (25-9)
Wisconsin maintained momentum entering the second set, jumping out to a 7-2 lead in the set before Quinnipiac called for timeout. The Badgers stayed hot out of the break, increasing their lead to 13-4 before the Bobcats used their final timeout of the frame. Quinnipiac never recovered in the set, as Wisconsin went on to take the set 25-9.
SET THREE (25-4)
The Badgers used the first six points of the match to jump out to a 5-1 lead before the Bobcats used their first timeout of the set. Out of the break in action, Wisconsin extended the lead to 12-3, forcing Quinnipiac to burn its final timeout of the set. The Badgers never lost control, hanging on for the 25-4 set win and 3-0 match victory.

- With the loss, Nicole Legg ends her three-year career with Quinnipiac
- Legg finishes her Quinnipiac career with 427 kills, 172 blocks, 66 service aces and an impressive .391 attack-percentage
- After earning All-MAAC First Team honors as a senior, Legg opted to return to Quinnipiac as a graduate student
- Legg earned All-MAAC Second Team honors this season as she aided the Bobcats in earning their first ever MAAC title and berth into the NCAA Tournament
- Damla Gunes ends her magical rookie year with 865 assists, marking the first time a Quinnipiac player finished a season with over 800 assists since Maria Pansari ended the 2018 campaign with 1,126 assists
- Gunes earned All-MAAC Rookie Team honors this season, marking back-to-back years the Bobcats had a first-year garner the honor (Faavae Kimsel Moe, 2021)
- Diaz ends her senior season with 337 kills and 321 digs
- She is the first QU player to post 300+ kills and 300+ digs in the same season since Kat Miller did so in 2018
