Bobcats to Take Part in Battle at the Beach this Weekend

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's golf program returns to action this week, as the Bobcats continue its fall slate at the Battle at the Beach, hosted by Delaware. The three-round tournament will take place at the Rehoboth Beach Country Club in Rehoboth Beach, DE. and will run on Saturday and Sunday, with 36 holes being played on Saturday.

BOBCATS ON THE BEACH
● The Bobcats are back on the road this weekend, as they take part in the Battle at the Beach
● A 54-hole, three-round tournament, the Battle at the Beach opens on Saturday with two rounds of play
● The Battle at the Beach is played at the Rehoboth Beach Country Club which is a par 72 course which plays 6,169 yards through 18
● The last time the Bobcats participated in the Battle at the Beach, QU finished in ninth of 12 teams in Oct. of 2018
● Alexandra Sazhin and senior Luciana Tobia-Palza both finished inside the top-20 at the Blue Hen Invitational
● After shooting QU's lowest round of the season in round two, Sahzin posted a final round 80 (+9) to claim a tie for 13th place in the individual standings
● Tobia-Palza shot an 81 (+10) in the final 18 holes and earned a tie for 19th
HOME COOKIN'
● Quinnipiac women's golf wrapped up play at the Quinnipiac Classic, finishing tied for 2nd out of 11 teams.
● QU ended the tournament tied in second place among 11 teams after shooting 934 (+70) after three rounds. Sacred Heart finished in first place after shooting a combined 933 (+69), just one stroke ahead of Quinnipiac and Fairleigh Dickinson (+70).
● The Bobcats had three golfers placed within the top-10, as Kaylee Sakoda finished in first place, Leeyen Peralta finished tied for 8th and Emily Luu finished tied for 10th after competing as an individual.
● Sakoda shot a 71 (-1) in the final round and 215 (-1) in the whole tournament.
● Peralta shot a 236 (+20) and Luu shot a 237 (+21) total in the three rounds.
THAT SHIP HAS SAILED
● Quinnipiac women's golf took second place out of 15 teams at the Navy Fall Invitational held at the Naval Academy Golf Course in Annapolis
● QU ended the tournament in second place among 15 teams after shooting 621 (+45) for the event.
● The Bobcats saw two golfers finish within the top-five as Kaylee Sakoda finished in third and Fuge Zhang tied for fourth.
● Sakoda shot a 79 (+8) in the final round to close the event at 150 (+6).
● Zhang carded a 75 (+3) on the final day to climb from 10th to fourth, finishing at 151 (+7).
WHAT A START!!
● Quinnipiac women's golf opened the 2022 fall season with a seventh place finish at the Yale Invitational held at the Golf Course at Yale in New Haven
● QU closed the tournament in seventh place among 15 teams after shooting 882 (+30) at the conclusion of the event, setting a new three-round program record
● Leeyen Peralta led Quinnipiac's grouping, tying for a 19th place finish
● Peralta shot a 71 (E) to close the tournament at 220 (+7)
BOBCATS IN BOSTON
● Quinnipiac women's golf closed its second fall tournament tying for fifth place out of 16 teams at the Boston College Intercollegiate held at the Blue Hill Country Club
● QU closed the tournament tied for fifth place among 16 teams after shooting 930 (+66) after the three-round invitational
● Quinnipiac saw two golfers finish within the top-10, as Leeyen Peralta tied for third, while Kaylee Sakoda took sixth place.
● Peralta shot a 76 (+4) in the final round to finish at 220 (+4) to tie for third place
● After shooting a program-record 140 (-4) through the first two rounds, Sakoda closed competition with an 84 (+12) for a score of 224 (+8)
LAURELED LEEYEN
● Leeyen Peralta returns for her senior campaign in the fall of 2022
● In her second event of the fall 2022 season, she earned her first top-five finish of the season, tying for third at the Boston College Invitational
● Peralta shot a 76 (+4) in the final round to finish at 220 (+4)
● Peralta shot a 236 (+20) to tie for eighth at the QU Classic to earn her second top-10 finish of the season
● Last season she competed in 11 events and averaged 76.67 strokes per round
● Peralta earned seven top-10 finishes and four top-five finishes on the campaign
● She recorded a program-record 58 birdies on the season
● Peralta earned All-MAAC honors and was named the MAAC Golfer of the Year last season after finishing first at the MAAC Championship
● Shot a career three-round best 218 (+2) to take first place at the MAAC Championship
● Her 218 (+2) at the MAAC Championship stands as the best three-round all-time score at the tournament
KEEN KAYLEE
● Kaylee Sakoda returns for her senior campaign as well
● Sakoda earned her first top-10 finish of the fall 2022 season, taking sixth place at the Boston College Intercollegiate
● She set a new two-round program-record 140 (-4) on the first day of the tournament
● Sakoda closed competition with an 84 (+12) for a score of 224 (+8)
● Sakoda earned her first individual win of the season after taking first place at the QU Classic
● Sakoda shot 71 (-1) in the final round and 215 (-1) in the whole tournament to finish 11 strokes ahead of the next closest competitor
● She appeared in eight events last season, averaging 76.35 strokes per round
● Sakoda earned All-MAAC honors as a junior last season
● She notched five top-five finishes and set a program record of shooting for par or better in six rounds
● Sakoda shot a career three-round best 219 (+3) at the MAAC Championship
● Her 219 (+3) at the MAAC Championship stands as the second best three-round all-time score at the tournament behind teammate Leeyen Peralta
