Highlights Game 1 (W, 8-4):
First Inning - The Bobcats came out firing in the first innings, scoring four runs to a take a 4-0 lead. After a single from senior Kayla Jensen and a walk by sophomore Kat Rodriguez, first-year Kayla Thomas hit a three-run home run to send them both home. Two more Bobcats were walked - first-year Gianna Palmisano and junior Hannha Davis - and then first-year Karolyn Walker hit an RBI-single to send Palmisano home.
Fifth Inning - The Bobcats got back on the board in the fifth inning, scoring four more runs. Junior Bridget Nasir was walked and Rodriguez hit a single to left. Nasir scored on a sacrifice fly ball from Thomas. Rodriguez later scored on a single from Palmisano. Walker stepped up and hit a double to left field to send Davis and Palmisano home.
The Bobcats would hold onto an 8-4 lead to secure the win in game one.
Notable Stats:
Sixth Inning - The Bobcats were down 4-0 leading into the top of the sixth inning, but came storming back by scoring three runs. Sophomore Sydney Tedim was walked and then stole second. Thomas was also walked, and later, Thomas and Tedim both stole second and third. Walker hit her second double of the day to send Tedim and Thomas home, recording two RBIs. Senior Brighid Douglas came in to pinch hit and grounded out to second base, recording an RBI as Davis scored.
The Purple Eagles would score one run in the bottom of the sixth to take a 5-3 lead and the eventual win.
Notable Stats:
Quinnipiac will play Niagara on Saturday, April 10 in a doubleheader to complete the season series.
