Softball Travels to Niagara for Four Game Series

HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac softball team will travel to Niagara Falls, N.Y., on April 9-10 for a four-game road series against the Purple Eagles. The Bobcats stand at 1-11 on the season, and the Purple Eagles are 2-6.
These games were originally scheduled for Saturday-Sunday, but the games were pushed up to Friday-Saturday.

Last Time Out
Quinnipiac hosted the Manhattan Jaspers on Wednesday, April 7. The Jaspers came away with the doubleheader sweep, winning game one, 5-2, and game two, 4-3 in extra innings. First-year Gianna Palmisano went 3-7 with two runs, one RBI and two walks on the day. Sophomore Sydney Tedim hit her first triple of the season, and first-year Julia Woeste pitched 17 innings for the Bobcats.
Scouting Niagara
The Purple Eagles are 2-6 on the season. Most recently, Niagara went 1-3 against the Rider Broncs back on March 26-27. Rachel Funk leads the team with a .407 batting average with three runs, 11 hits, one home run and five RBIs. In the circle, Riley Crum leads the team with a 3.20 ERA and 18 strikeouts.
Bobcats' Stats
Sophomore Katherine Rodriguez leads the squad with a .359 batting average with five runs, 14 hits, three doubles and 10 RBIs. She has made 25 putouts with 30 assists at third base. First-year Karolyn Walker had a solid two games against Manhattan and now has a .294 average with a team-best .353 on-base percentage.
First Years Figuring it Out
First-years Gianna Palmisano, Kayla Thomas and Ela Henry have played in ten or more games for Quinnipiac in the outfield, first base and catcher, respectively. Palmisano is hitting a .281 with six runs, nine hits, three doubles and two RBIs. Thomas has tallied eight RBIs, which is second on the team.
