Kline Earns First Collegiate Win Against Fordham

BRONX, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac softball team picked up their 18th win of the season, defeating Fordham 6-3 in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bobcats offense came out strong, plating two runs on five hits in the first inning. Back-to-back singles from Mary Fogg and Sofia Vega set the tone before Kennedy DeMott loaded the bases with another single. Ally Hochstadter and Natalia Apatiga followed with RBI singles to give the Bobcats an early lead.
Fordham answered with a run in the bottom of the inning and tied the game in the second on an RBI single. The Rams then took a 3-2 lead in the fourth on an RBI double.
Quinnipiac responded in the fifth with a four-run inning. Apatiga delivered her second hit and RBI of the game to tie it before a hit-by-pitch to Aryn Bombery brought in the go-ahead run. Kinsley Cox added a two-run single to make it 6-3.
Fordham cut into the lead with an RBI double in the fifth and added another run in the sixth but the Bobcats held on, recording back-to-back groundouts to seal the victory.
Jasmine Kline earned her first collegiate win, tossing 3.2 innings while allowing two runs on four hits and striking out one.
Quinnipiac improves to 18-13 on the season.
