
Bobcats End Roadtrip with 6-5 win over Niagara

Quinnipiac finishes the four-game series with a split on day two
Third Inning - The Bobcats jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third inning. Junior Bridget Nasir advanced to second after sophomore Cy Gonzalez hit a sacrifice bunt. Later, Nasir and senior Kayla Jensen stole second and third base. First-year Kayla Thomas hit a single up the middle to send Jensen home after Nasir scored on a fielder's choice play. Sophomore Katherine Rodriguez scored after first-year Gianna Palmisano hit a fly ball to center field to give Quinnipiac at 3-0 lead.
Fourth Inning - Nasir got the inninng started with a single to shortstop. Gonzalez hit a single to center, and Nasir advanced to second. Thomas hit a single to center field, allowing Naisr and Gonzalez to score.
The Bobcats took a 5-4 lead in the fourth inning, but the Purple Eagles came back to tie the game in the bottom of the fourth. The game would go to eight innings, and Niagara would come out on top, 7-5.
Notable Stats:
- Thomas went 3-4 with three RBIs.
- Nasir went 2-3 with two runs and was walked once.
- Gonzalez went 1-1 with one run.
- First-year Tori McGraw pitched 2.1 innings, allowing three runs with one strikeout. First-year Julia Woeste came in to pitch five innings and allowed four runs.
- Riley Crum earned the win for Niagara, pitching six innings with three strikeouts.
First Inning - Quinnipiac started the second game strong, jumping out to a 2-0 lead. First-year Karolyn Walker and senior Brighid Douglas were both walked with the bases loaded, allowing Rodriguez and Thomas to score.
Sixth Inning - The Bobcats' offense exploded in the sixth inning as the team scored four runs to gain a 6-2 lead. With Gonzalez and Rodriguez on base, Thomas hit a single up the middle, allowing both Bobcats on base to score. After a single from Davis and a walk from Walker, three Bobcats were on base, including first-year Ela Henry, who pinch ran for Thomas, Douglas hit a single to left center field, recording two RBIs as Davis and Henry scored.
The Purple Eagles scored three runs in the sixth and seventh inning. Niagara could not complete the comeback, and the Bobcats secured the 6-5 win.
Notable Stats:
- Rodriguez went 3-4 with two runs and was walked once.
- Thomas continued her strong play and went 1-3 with one run, two RBIs and two walks.
- Douglas led the team with three RBIs, going 2-3 at bat.
- McGraw earned her first win of her collegiate career, pitching all seven innings and allowing five runs with two walks.
Quinnipiac will host Iona on Wednesday, April 14 for doubleheader.
