Bobcats Drop Two vs Manhattan

Highlights Game 1 (L, 2-5):
Second Inning - The Bobcats took a 1-0 lead in the second inning. First-year Gianna Palmisano got Quinnipiac started with a single up the middle. First-year Karolyn Walker added a single of her own and advanced Palmisano to third. Sophomore Cy Gonzalez grounded out to short stop, recording a sacrifice RBI, allowing Palmisano to score.
Seventh Inning - The Jaspers held onto a 5-1 lead until the bottom of the seventh inning. Sophomore Sydney Tedim hit a triple to center field, and first-year Kayla Thomas followed with an RBI-single to allow Tedim to score. The Jaspers would later secure the 5-2 victory.
Notable Stats:
First Inning - Quinnipiac got the scoring started first, taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the opening inning. Senior Kayla Jensen was walked and later stole second base. Sophomore Katherine Rodriguez was also walked, and Thomas reached first on an error by the third baseman. Palmisano was also walked, allowed Jensen to score.
Sixth Inning - The Bobcats tied the game 2-2 in the sixth. Palmisano reached first off an error by Manhattan's second baseman. Junior Hannah Davis hit a sacrifice ground out to allow Palmisano to advance to second. Walker stepped up to hit a double to left field, and Palmisano was thrown out advancing to third. After Gonzalez hit a single, Manhattan made a throwing error, allowing Walker to score an unearned run to tie the game.
The game would extend into extra innings as the game remained tied, 2-2, until the top of the 10th inning. Manhattan scored two runs to take a 4-2 lead. In the bottom of the 10th inning, Palmisano scored off an RBI-single by Gonzalez, but the Bobcats would fall 4-3 in the end.

Quinnipiac will hit the road to face Niagara on April 9 and 10 in Niagara Falls, N.Y.
