Aasen Scores Twice, Bobcats Win Regular Season Finale

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac men's soccer earned its third shutout of the season on Thursday, April 8, downing Manhattan by the final score of 2-0 in the regular season finale.
With the victory, the Bobcats will host a quarterfinal matchup in the 2021 MAAC Tournament on April 11 at the QU Soccer Stadium in Hamden. No. 1 Quinnipiac will host No. 8 Siena at 3:00 PM on Sunday.
Under Head Coach Eric Da Costa, Quinnipiac has now won five conference regular season titles in the last nine seasons. Quinnipiac has won four MAAC regular season championships since joining the conference in 2013, going 49-17-11 in MAAC regular season games.
Brage Aasen scored both of the Quinnipiac goals, while first-year keeper Antreas Hadjigavriel recorded his first collegiate shutout in the win.

First Half
- (15' – Quinnipiac 1, Manhattan 0): The Bobcats got on the board just 14:40 into action. Tomas Svecula touched the ball to Alexander Kyrkjeeide – who then played it toward the middle of the box. Brage Aasen made a nice run in front of the Jaspers' keeper, striking the ball into the lower-right portion of the net with his left foot to give Quinnipiac the early edge.
- (68' – Quinnipiac 2, Manhattan 0): Brage Aasen scored his second goal of the day midway through the second half. Aasen bent a corner kick directly into the back of the net – shooting from the far side of the field. David Bercedo made a run at the ball, but Aasen's shot first deflected off the Manhattan keeper and into the back of the net.
- Brage Aasen finished the 2021 spring season with a team-high 12 points (four goals, four assists). The sophomore has recorded a point in five of QU's six games.
- First-year keeper Antreas Hadjigavriel recorded his first collegiate shutout in the win, making four saves for the Bobcats.
- Quinnipiac outshot Manhattan 14-10, and the Bobcats earned eight corner chances.
- The Bobcats' defensive unit has now recorded three shutouts in six games. Quinnipiac has allowed just 68 shots and seven goals all season.
