Bobcats Finish Undefeated at Home For First Time in Program History
HAMDEN, Conn. – For the first time in program history, the Quinnipiac women's lacrosse team finished its 2021 home slate undefeated as it defeated the Manhattan Jaspers, 15-11, on Sunday afternoon.
The Bobcats celebrated senior day prior to the start of the game, celebrating the team's seven graduates for their time in Hamden.
Junior midfielder Gabby Beckett tallied five first half assists on her way to setting a new career high of six. She added a goal to also set a new career high in points with seven.
Sophomore defender Melissa Murphy recorded a career-high seven ground balls. Overall, the Bobcats were stout defensively picking up 21 ground balls and forcing 13 turnovers. Sophomore goalkeeper Kat Henselder tallied 10 saves in the victory.
Graduate student Megan Szawlowski tallied her seventh game of at least three goals and added an assist for four points on the day. Four Bobcats scored two goals as Emily Feeney, Maddie Noel, Maddie Deegan and Sophia Iaccino each found the back of the net twice. Feeney added an assist for a three point day.

GAME SUMMARY
- The teams traded the two opening goals in the contest, but Quinnipiac rattled off four straight to take a 5-1 lead.
- Manhattan scored the next two goals to cut the Quinnipiac lead to 5-3.
- The last 10 minutes of the first half were won by the Bobcats, 3-2, as they took an 8-5 lead into halftime.
- Beckett got the scoring started in the second half as she scored just over 30 seconds into the half. Quinnipiac then scored two more goals to take an 11-5 lead.
- Manhattan scored to end the Quinnipiac run, but the Bobcats went on another 3-0 run to take a 14-6 lead.
- The Jaspers ended the game on a 5-1 run, but Quinnipiac took the win, 15-11.
- Gabby Beckett finished two assists shy of tying the program record of eight. She is now at 30 career assists after her six today.
- Melissa Murphy eclipsed her 2020 ground ball total of 13 with her career-high seven on Sunday. She now has 16 ground balls in 2021 and 29 in her career.
- Megan Szawlowski now has 41 points this season, just nine shy of the career-high 50 she recorded in her junior season.
- Kat Henselder has now made 117 saves this season for the Bobcats. She is making 11.70 saves per game, which is good enough for top-five in the country. This is her ninth consecutive game recording a double-digit save total.
- Sophia Iaccino recorded four draw controls in Sunday's win. She has now tallied 50 of them on the season. Her two goals pushed her season total to 20.
- Emily Feeney's one assist gave her 10 in the 2021 campaign. She also picked up one ground ball to match her 2020 season total of 10.
- Lauren Hayes matched her career high in caused turnovers with three. She now has 10 on the season.
- The Bobcats return to action on Saturday, April 24 as they travel to upstate New York to take on Niagara. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
