Bobcats Late Comeback Falls Just Short
NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac women's lacrosse team dropped its regular season finale on Saturday afternoon, 14-12 to Niagara. The Bobcats finish the regular season with a 5-6 record.
The Bobcats were led offensively by graduate student Megan Szawlowski, as she scored four goals and added two assists for six points.
Defensively, Quinnipiac was led by sophomore Melissa Murphy. The Roxbury, N.J. native picked up five ground balls and caused a career-high three turnovers. Sophomore goalkeeper Kat Henselder made 11 saves for the Bobcats.
Sophomore Emily Feeney recorded a career-high nine draw controls.

GAME SUMMARY
- Niagara began the game on a 2-0 run, but Szawlowski scored in transition to get the Bobcats on the board.
- The next two goals were traded between the teams. Niagara added two more goals to take a 5-2 lead.
- Emily Feeney and Amy Nicoloff scored back-to-back goals to get Quinnipiac within one, 5-4.
- Niagara closed the half on another 2-0 run to take a 7-4 lead into halftime.
- After Niagara scored the first goal of the second half, Szawlowski scored two consecutive goals and Sophia Iaccino scored her first of the day as the Bobcats cut the Niagara lead to 8-7.
- The next two goals were traded back and forth, but Niagara scored the next four goals, giving them a 13-8 lead.
- Quinnipiac outscored Niagara 4-1 over the final 6:30 of the game, but the Purple Eagles hung on to take the victory.
- Szawlowski has had five games of at least four goals this season. She has also had four games of at least six points. The graduate student now has 33 goals and 14 assists for 47 points. Her 47 points are just three off her career high of 50.
- Beckett picked up a career-high four ground balls in Saturday's game, giving her 12 on the season.
- Iaccino recorded another five draw controls in the game, giving her 55 on the season, the most on the team.
- Murphy's five ground balls gave her 21 on the season, the fourth most on the team.
- This is the ninth consecutive game that Henselder has recorded a double-digit save total. She now has 128 saves on the season, the most in the conference.
