FIFTH YEAR UNDER KOTOWICZ
Head Coach Tanya Kotowicz enters her fifth season at the helm of the Bobcats. Under Kotowicz, the Bobcats have brought in two straight first year classes that have made an immediate impact. In 2020, midfielders Desiree Kleberg and Sophia Iaccino both earned MAAC Rookie of the Week honors. Kleberg earned the award twice while Iaccino earned the award once. Since Kotowicz's first season in 2017, the Bobcats have improved every season in total and conference wins, including one birth in the MAAC tournament.
SCOUTING THE STAGS
Fairfield was voted as the No. 2 team in the 2021 MAAC preseason coaches' poll, receiving 69 total points and two first place votes. The 2019 MAAC champions recorded a 2-5 record last season in the non-conference prior to the season being cancelled due to COVID-19. Fairfield returns five of its six top point scorers from a season ago. All five of those returners recorded double-digit point totals in the Stags' seven games in 2020. Head coach Laura Field is entering her sixth season at the helm for Fairfield. She already ranks second all-time in Fairfield's program history in wins with 51.
THE RETURN OF SWAZ
Graduate attack Megan Szawlowski returns in 2021 for the Bobcats. She was Quinnipiac's leading scorer from a season ago, recording 21 points from 17 goals and four assists. In her two seasons with the Bobcats, the Holyoke, Mass. native 50 goals and 21 assists.
MIDFIELD MASTERCLASS
Nine of the 10 returning top scorers from the Bobcats all come from the midfield position. Juniors Gabby Beckett and Maddie Deegan were named to the 2019 MAAC All-Rookie Team. The pair of them recorded 25 combined points one season ago. Sophomores Desiree Kleberg and Sophia Iaccino both earned MAAC Rookie of the Week honors a season ago. Kleberg and Iaccino combined for 23 points in 2019.
