Bobcats Earn Fifth Regular Season Championship in Nine Seasons
HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team has been crowned ECAC Hockey Cleary Cup Champions by winning the league regular season title, as announced by the league office on Thursday, March 4.
Quinnipiac's Cleary Cup is its fifth in the last nine seasons, and second in the last three.
Entering the weekend, the Bobcats needed just three points to clinch a share of the Cleary Cup but the Bobcats got a jump start on celebrating a title as the final four games between St. Lawrence and Clarkson were cancelled.
The Bobcats are 16-5-4 this season and own a 9-3-4 record in ECAC Hockey play. Quinnipiac will enter the ECAC Hockey playoffs as the No. 1 seed, hosting the No. 4 seed in the semifinals on March 18 before the league championship game on March 20.
Before the Bobcats can think about the playoffs, they will host the Colgate Raiders this weekend in a two-game series on Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 4 p.m. at Frank Perrotti Jr. Arena.
